What are the responsibilities and job description for the Office Administrator position at Second Presbyterian Church?
We are looking for a hard-working, people-loving individual to run the office at Second Presbyterian Church, Newark, OH. This person will be responsible for interacting with members and guests over the phone, through email, and in person, creating and producing weekly communications for our church life, keeping the church calendar, working with the pastors to improve the communication of the church with a particular focus on digital communications, and completing other administrative tasks as needed. The church office is open from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Monday – Thursday. While respecting the traditions of the church’s past, we are seeking an individual to help us continue to move forward in the future. Responsibilities
- Administer the operation of the church office
- Act as receptionist to church members and members of the general public
- Create and administer weekly email and other internal communications
- Manage church communications with the community using both conventional and electronic communication methods (church website and social media, etc)
- Coordinate scheduling of the building use
- Manage the church's master calendar
- Order office supplies and church supplies
- Communicate maintenance needs with custodian and facilitate contractors as needed
- Provide daily pick up and drop off of mail at the Post Office
- Attend training to keep updated in the field/position
- Attend staff meetings and keep the minutes of the meetings
- Perform other duties as assigned by the pastors and/or church leaders
Qualifications
- A high school diploma. Additional education and training are preferred
-Experience with and knowledge of computer software such as Microsoft Office Suite, Google calendar, Canva, Mail Chimp and Word Press
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to use basic office equipment, including a computer, copier, etc.
- Ability to meet deadlines
- A person who is able to enthusiastically support the faith, ministry and mission of the church
- The church requires completion of a drug screen and criminal background check as part of the employment process.

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $15.00 - $16.00 per hour
