Second State Coffee in Charleston, SC is looking for a barista at each of our locations . If you apply for this job and have not read this key detail in the description, you will not be considered.
Candidacy is contingent on Saturday and Sunday all-day availability, please do not apply if you are not available on Saturday and Sunday. Applicants with flexible availability are viewed as priority. The ideal candidate is not required to have prior barista experience but is committed to an in-depth and detailed training program. We start our team members from the absolute basics, regardless of industry experience or skill level.
Baristas start on register, volume, or bar back position and progress based on performance and scheduling availability. Training courses are required for advancement. The "bar position" is a coveted position and requires extensive training.

Key Functions & Responsibilities
- Prepare hot and cold drinks to exacting standards, maintaining a high level of execution for procedural and operational policies
- Meet all health and safety guidelines
- Demonstrate Second State Coffee values, culture, and behaviors. Foster a respectful, inclusive, educational, and fun environment for both team members and guests.
- Exude exceptional hospitality and service with regard to friendliness, cleanliness, speed of service, beverage quality, and customer retention. Always look for ways to go above and beyond.
- Maintain an exceptionally clean and organized working space and consumer space.
Must be able and willing to:
- Exercise sound judgment under pressure and ask for help when needed
- Provide exceptional consumer experiences
- Demonstrate enthusiasm for coffee, service, hospitality, and quality
- Have working knowledge of POS systems
- Utilize programs such as GroupMe and Homebase for communication and scheduling
