JOB TITLE: District Library-Media Specialist
REPORTS TO: Building Principal and Director of Curriculum
JOB SUMMARY: The district Library Media Specialist guides and supports district library/media programs K-12 and will be centered at the district secondary school.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher.
- Hold or be eligible for Oregon Teaching Certification, with an endorsement in Library Media.
- Ability to establish positive working relationships with students, staff, and parents through an equitable and trauma informed lens.
- Experience working in a library.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:- Master’s degree in Educational Media, Curriculum and Instruction, or equivalent.
- Spanish language skills.
- Experience working in a classroom setting, K-12 library, or higher education.
SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate with school library systems to design and delivery information literacy, digital citizenship, reading engagement, and instructional technology curriculum.
- Promote and instill a district-wide culture of reading and literature appreciation, one that encourages students and staff to take full advantage of library media resources.
- Develop and implement digital literacy programs to educate students on the responsible and ethical use of the internet, social media, and other digital platforms.
- Collaborate with the Technology Department to support technology integration of knowledge and skill.
- Teach at least one class per term determined by the building principal.
- Support integration of library media supports into classrooms throughout the district.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Starts Fall 2025 pending board approval of the 2025-2026 budget. 190-Day Contract at 1.0 FTE. Based on current SEA salary schedule and negotiated agreement, $50,073-$101,649 annually, with excellent benefits including Medical, Dental and Vision insurance and Oregon state retirement.
