What are the responsibilities and job description for the Career and Technical Education (CTE) Teacher position at Secondary Schools?
The School District of Clayton is seeking a Career and Technical Education (CTE) Teacher for the 2025-2026 school year at Wydown Middle School and Clayton High School. The successful candidate will have an academic background in STEM and experience with teaching courses from Project Lead the Way, at the high school and/or middle school level.

The Successful Candidate:
- Is knowledgeable about both the middle and high school philosophy and the developmental needs of adolescents and will be able to present the curriculum using a problem-centered approach
- Demonstrates appropriate long and short term preparation for classroom instruction
- Holds high expectations for all students and sees themselves as facilitators of student learning
- Organizes and uses a variety of teaching techniques, strategies, materials, and technology to maximize the learning of each child, individually and in group settings
- Assesses student progress, provides students and parents with specific feedback, and uses the results to adjust instruction as needed
- Provides opportunities for academic support and challenge
- Takes responsibility for teaching the District curriculum as outlined in the curriculum documents
- Demonstrates an understanding of how knowledge in their subject areas is created, organized, and linked to other disciplines and life experiences
- Keeps abreast of current developments in their field and continues to deepen their understanding of their discipline(s)
- Establishes and maintains a functional, attractive, orderly, and safe classroom environment that is conducive to student learning and builds a sense of community
Education: Bachelor's Degree required. Major or Minor in a STEM area required. Master’s Degree preferred. The selected candidate will have completed the Project Lead The Way (PLTW) Core Training or be willing to attend training this summer.
Certification: Missouri teacher certification in grades 5-9 and 9-12, related endorsements for subject and level include: Science, Mathematics, Industrial Technology, or Engineering. PLTW certification is required prior to August 2025.
Experience: Preferred. Must complete the PLTW Core Training prior to the start of the 2025-2026 school year.
