Secondary Services Inc. is a premier industrial metal finishing company located in Buffalo, NY, proudly serving upstate New York and the eastern Great Lakes region for more than 25 years. Our 80,000-square-foot, SSPC QP3-certified facility features four engineered blast rooms and four large equipment paint booths, including a 200-pound-per-hook conveyor line for smaller parts and capacity to handle components up to 20 tons. We specialize in processing OEM fabrications and components to meet SSPC, NACE, ISO and OEM specifications, with a strong focus on quality, performance, and on-time delivery. Our skilled team operates within an integrated Quality Management System to ensure every job meets the most demanding standards, including DOT, DOD, and military requirements.

Summary:

As an Industrial Painter and Blast Cleaner you will be responsible for the surface preparation and application of protective coatings on a wide range of industrial components, ensuring compliance with OEM, SSPC, NACE, and ISO standards.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform surface preparation using environmentally friendly media in engineered indoor blast rooms.
  • Apply primers, epoxies, urethanes, and other protective coatings in climate-controlled spray booths.
  • Ensure all work complies with SSPC, NACE, ISO, and customer specifications.
  • Follow detailed written work instructions and production orders.
  • Maintain equipment and ensure work areas are clean and organized.
  • Conduct visual inspections and basic quality checks.
  • Operate forklifts, cranes, and other material handling equipment as needed.
  • Adhere to all safety standards and use proper PPE at all times.

Basic Skills:

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Attention to detail
  • Basic understanding of industrial coating techniques
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Blueprint reading

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Previous experience in industrial painting or blasting preferred
  • Experience with forklifts and cranes is a plus
  • Prior experience in a fabrication or manufacturing environment is beneficial

Physical Requirements:

The Industrial Painter and Blast Cleaner role requires good manual dexterity, physical strength for lifting and carrying heavy parts up to 50 pounds, standing for extended periods, fine motor skills, visual acuity, spatial awareness, physical stamina, proficiency in using hand tools and equipment, and safety awareness to perform tasks accurately and safely.

Overtime / Travel Requirements:

Overtime (OT) will be required from time to time for short-term or long-term duration, as business needs mandate.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $26.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
