What you will do:
The Business Relationship Banker is responsible for driving the growth of business banking services memberships, including checking, deposits, and electronic business services, while also providing business loan referrals and supporting business partners. The incumbent will identify training needs within their respective financial centers, assist partners within SECU to deepen existing relationships and expand new ones, and track individual business results, including new business account acquisition, penetration, and retention, through targeted sales strategies. Additionally, the role involves participating in community activities such as Chamber functions, Open Houses, and business networking events to raise awareness of our business banking services. The incumbent will take ownership of addressing business member complaints and issues, while contributing to the strategic marketing planning and overall success of the department.
The Business Relationship Banker adheres to regulations and organizational policies, maintaining awareness and knowledge required to perform the duties of the position, including all aspects of the Bank Secrecy Act and related regulations, such as OFAC, and the USA Patriot Act, Fair Lending and Information Security.
A day in your life might include:
- Develops new member relationships with business prospects.
- Services existing business banking member base.
- Achieves established goals as outlined by manager.
- Works with financial center partners to maximize sales efforts to business members and cross sell other products and services that the bank offers.
- Networks with centers of influence to develop business including accountants, attorneys and other referral sources.
- Evaluates credit information and requests and recommend an appropriate loan structure to manage risks.
- Effectively negotiates with underwriters and members to maximize revenue and minimize risk.
- Achieves sales goals with minimum expectations as follows:
- Manages and grows loan and deposit portfolios
- Oversees approximately 30 to 65 relationship managed members.
- Actively participates in all business banking and retail sales sprints.
- Achieves call targets and other product sales goals such as treasury, merchant, BCC and others assigned.
- Participates in civic and cultural organizations and programs.
- Utilizes prescribed selling techniques to maximize sales opportunities.
Loan & Account Acquisition
- Identify and implement business activities to acquire new business loans and accounts while retaining and managing existing business relationships.
- Directly identify business loan leads and forward loans in excess of $250,000 to the Commercial Lending Officer.
- Attend business functions to promote SECUs products and services.
- Network with local chambers and business organizations to promote SECUs business services.
- Meet annual relationship goals:
- Ranging from $2.0MM-$3.5MM in business loans, $2.5MM in business deposits, business credit cards, RDC, Treasury, Merchant, consumer I mortgage or retail referrals
Internal Partner Focus
- Works with Financial Center managers and SECU business partners to serve the needs of our members.
- Contacts referrals from assigned Financial Centers
- Assists with the education of Financial Center staff on Business products and services.
- Other duties will be assigned.
What we need from you:
Education Requirements
- Minimum of high school diploma/GED, A. A. degree is preferred
- Courses in Business, Marketing, Communications, related sales coursework a plus
Experience Requirements
- At least 2 years experience of proven business development in a banking or credit union sales environment.
- Business and Consumer financial services background preferred, with emphasis on Business to Business sales.
- Takes personal responsibility for decisions, actions, failures and overall deliverables
- Utilizes oral and written communication to enhance relationships across the organization
- Relates comfortably with people across levels, functions, culture, and geography
- Maintains composure and effectiveness when experiencing major changes in work tasks or the work environment
- Demonstrates an understanding of SECUs culture, core values, mission and strategic priorities as it relates to ones work and overall performance
Compensation Information: Offers will be commensurate with experience and education.
- Salary: Min. $73,800 Max. $118,00
