We are currently seeking a Commercial Lender III.

What you will do :

The Commercial Lender will develop new business and build relationships with existing clients, this position will focus on originating and increasing Commercial Loan volume. The role requires providing support, direction, and credit information while following loan policies and procedures to ensure the overall quality of the business lending portfolio. A key responsibility is developing and maintaining strong relationships with business borrowers, which will involve prospecting through phone calls, cold calls, appointments, networking events, and participation in local chambers and business organizations. This role will allow the banker to build relationships with business owners, expand these relationships over time, and become the face of the organization to the business member. Being a 'Trusted Advisor' by collaborating with other internal departments to provide personalized and technical solutions for the member is also an expectation of this role. Additionally, the position demands close collaboration with branch staff to support business development at the branch level.

The role requires strong analytical skills to evaluate business loan needs, structure appropriate loan terms, and assess the capacity to repay debt. Familiarity with business enterprises, underwriting concepts, accounting terms, and lien requirements is essential to present viable business loans effectively. Knowledge of regulatory requirements and adherence to internal standards applicable to business lending products is a must. Proficiency in both conventional and SBA products is required, and the ability to coordinate and facilitate complex loan commitments and settlement processes is essential. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with all levels of management are crucial, as are excellent verbal and written communication skills. Compensation for this position will be weighted heavily on goal measurement and ability to achieve agreed upon performance for each target. The incumbent must stay abreast of all ancillary services offered by SECU and promote these services with the business members.

The Commercial Lender adheres to regulations and organizational policies, maintaining awareness and knowledge required to perform the duties of the position, including all aspects of the Bank Secrecy Act and related regulations, such as OFAC, and the USA Patriot Act, Fair Lending and Information Security.

A day in your life might include :

  • Source, collect, document and submit a complete financial package for Commercial Real Estate Loans ranging from $500,000 to $2,000,000.00.
  • Produce new loans that meet or exceeds set monthly / quarterly / annual target metric / goals which will be reviewed and documented on a periodic basis.

Market Focus : Commercial loan opportunities up to $10MM

  • Loan Type : W / C and Guidance lines of credit (secured and unsecured), conventional commercial real estate loans, SBA 504 loans, equipment term loans, construction / permanent loans and business acquisition financing and commercial participations to include Government Guarantee loan purchases
  • Annual Production Goal : $12MM to $15MM in booked loans (based upon experience)
  • Generate DDA Accounts; Merchant Service referrals, Business Credit Cards, Treasury Management leads and portfolio management
  • Work with branch personnel to enhance and build relationships with members.
  • Actively involved in developing / structuring viable loans.
  • Cross-sell business deposits and cash management products to achieve scheduled goals that will be reviewed and documented on a periodic basis.
  • Manage and support the pre- and post-closing process as needed.

  • What we need from you :

    Education Requirements

  • Minimum of A. A. degree is required.
  • BS / BA preferred
  • Courses in Business, Marketing, Communications, related sales coursework a plus

    Experience Requirements

  • At least 7 years of experience working in commercial real estate lending.
  • Business Banking background is preferred with an emphasis on knowledge of Treasury Management solutions.

  • Demonstrates an understanding of SECU’s culture, core values, mission and strategic priorities as it relates to one’s work and overall performance.
  • Compensation Information : Offers will be commensurate with experience and education. Please Note : We typically hire at or below mid-point, which is $115,100 for this role.

  • Salary : Min. $88,500 – Max. $141,700
