As the Shift Manager, you provide leadership for ensuring teams are monitoring our Mainframe infrastructure and batch processing in a 24x7/365 environment. In this role, you will remain proficient in all phases of computer operations, as to fill in for sickness, vacations, etc., in absence of an operator on their shift. You will maintain a flow of work through the Mainframe according to the schedule, processes, and procedures. This position will have staff members reporting directly to them covering the different levels and skillsets in computer operations.

Responsibilities:
- (60%) Manage and provide direction to IT Operations staff members to ensure that they properly complete workloads and monitor the mainframe environments. Setup work schedules for staffing coverage. Maintain reporting of key indicators of processing. Review current processes and procedures, make recommendations for improvement in efficiencies and create new processes and procedures as needed. Assist and advise with complex escalation issues.
- (20%) Train, coach, and mentor staff members to improve their skills. Complete job performance reviews, guide employees through individual development.
- (10%) Collaborate with internal support teams and outside vendors for tasks related to the mainframe. This includes problem detections and resolution to project implementations.
- (10%) Recruit, interview and hire new employees, Participate in disciplinary actions and salary recommendations.
- Associate’s degree or a high school degree/GED plus an additional 10 years of experience
- 10 years of experience in mainframe, job scheduling software, Microsoft Office, mainframe monitoring tools, and working with incident management
- Good technical aptitude and the ability to adhere to detailed instructions, be alert, dependable, and strive for efficiency
- Analytical mindset, detail oriented and able to follow complex instructions
- Able to adhere to the work schedule and attendance policy
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to inspire and lead others
- Ability to make proactive decisions and execute on them
- Ability to be proactive and have the experience and skills to multi-task
- 15 years of experience in mainframe, job scheduling software, Microsoft Office, mainframe monitoring tools, and working with incident management
- Computer certifications
- Degree in science or business
- Previous management experience
- MVS/JES production and development environments
- Telephone for prolonged periods
- Computer for prolonged periods
- Working closely with and around others
- Understanding technical manuals and documentation
