Description
The Retail Security Officer is tasked with maintaining the safety and security of a retail store located on Chicago's northwest side. This role involves monitoring the premises, deterring theft, and promptly reporting security incidents to management or the police. The Retail Security Officer contributes to creating a safe and welcoming shopping environment for customers and staff.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service while maintaining a visible security presence.
- Incident Response: Respond promptly to security incidents, emergencies, and alarms.
- Reporting: Document and report all incidents, accidents, and observations accurately and promptly.
- Collaboration: Work closely with store management and law enforcement when necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular patrols of the property to observe and address security risks or safety concerns.
- Monitor access points and verify the identification of individuals entering the premises.
- Respond promptly to any incidents or emergencies, assisting as needed.
- Document incidents and daily activities, maintaining clear and accurate reports.
- Interact with clients customers in a professional and courteous manner.
- Report any suspicious activity or safety hazards to the appropriate authorities.
- Monitor security systems and alarms, reporting any malfunctions or issues.
- Maintain visibility throughout the shift to discourage unauthorized activity.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures, as well as legal regulations.
Qualifications:
- 20-Hour Certificate: Completion of a 20-hour security training course.
- PERC Card: Ability to obtain a valid Permanent Employee Registration Card (PERC).
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a security or similar role preferred.
- Ability to stay alert and focused during overnight shifts.
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle emergencies calmly and professionally.
- Must pass a background check and drug screening.
- Authorized to work in the U.S.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods.
- Ability to respond quickly to any incidents or emergencies.

- Variable Hours: All positions are considered variable hour roles, with weekly hours subject to change based on operational needs.
- Compensation: The hourly rates specified in this job posting apply exclusively to this position. Securatex may offer other assignments with different pay rates. All required training is compensated for at no less than the state minimum wage.
