Your Opportunity at SECURE

The Facility Manager plays an integral role in leading the safe and effective day-to-day operations of the Richmond Transfer Station facility. As a people leader, they set the workplace culture and are responsible for guiding operators in a manner that prioritizes safety, environmental responsibility, and alignment with corporate values. This role requires strong technical knowledge of the facility and involves overseeing training, supervision, and coaching to develop a high-performing team. They continuously monitor daily operations to ensure compliance with company procedures and best practices.

Work Environment

The role of Facility Manager is structured as a full-time position, working 5 days a week, 40-hours, with the potential for overtime depending on role requirements and deadlines.

A Day in The Life

The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Operational Management:Oversee the efficient, safe, and compliant daily operations of waste management facilities, including collection, transportation, sorting, recycling, and disposal, while optimizing resource utilization and minimizing waste.
  • Team Leadership:Lead and manage a team of supervisors, operators, drivers, and support staff by providing guidance, training, and support to ensure safe and effective performance while fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Customer Relations:Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory authorities, address inquiries and concerns promptly, and collaborate with sales and marketing to identify business expansion and retention opportunities.
  • Financial Management:Develop and manage budgets, analyze financial performance to identify cost reduction and revenue enhancement opportunities, and ensure operations stay within budget while maximizing profitability.
  • Quality Assurance and Compliance:Implement quality assurance programs to ensure high-quality service delivery, conduct regular inspections and audits for compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards, and manage permits, licenses, and approvals for waste management operations.
  • Strategic Planning:Develop and execute strategic plans, identify industry trends and opportunities, and collaborate with senior management on long-term growth and sustainability strategies.
  • Health, Safety, and Environmental Management:Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations by promoting a safety culture, implementing safety protocols and training, and monitoring and reducing environmental impact of operations.
  • Reporting and Communication:Prepare and present reports on operational performance and financial metrics, communicate updates to senior management and stakeholders, and participate in industry events to stay informed on trends and developments.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • Grade 12 or General Education Diploma (GED) education
  • 5-10 years’ experience in Waste Management Facilities, Industrial Landfills or Pipeline Operations
  • A valid Class 5 driver’s license
  • Valid industry safety tickets
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to provide effective leadership and guidance to staff
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to prepare technical reports
  • Proficient with company applications and Microsoft Office
