Structured Assets Credit Analyst
This role is accountable for helping the structured assets team achieve the investment objectives of various portfolio strategies. The position requires a deep understanding of primary and secondary structured asset markets, as well as strong analytical skills.
Responsibilities:
- Oversight of primary and secondary structured asset markets including timely new issue recommendations with both structural and underlying asset analysis with consideration to relative value both across structured assets and broader investment options
- Presenting secondary ideas (based on relative value)
- Responsible for trading approved trade ideas
- Ongoing surveillance of current holdings with the goal of right sizing risk to align with current fundamental viewpoints
- Updated investment sector thesis with positioning on a regular basis
- Internal rating assessment
- Evaluation of underlying asset performance metrics compared to a benchmark
- Maintenance of asset analytics and modeling
- Recurring Sector level analysis and overview meant to identify inflection points within an analyst's sector coverage expressed through fundamental sector outlook and recommendation
- Sector evaluation that incorporates elements of ESG to highlight relevant ESG options within an analyst's sector coverage
- Projects/experiments meant to creatively enhance and improve the research process including (but not limited to) leveraging various technology platforms
- Cross-sector support and debate. Help provide analytical support and participate in relative value discussions
Qualifications:
- 5 years of demonstrated investment research success in a liability-driven and/or total return environment in a structured analyst role
- Currently have or working towards CFA and/or MBA
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to make objective recommendations and defend viewpoints
- Strong math and analytical skills including a strong understanding of structural nuances an modeling capabilities
- Ability to distill and communicate critical issues and assumptions
- A broad understanding of financial markets and risk models supported by a background in math, economics or statistics
- A high level of curiosity, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to teamwork
- Experience utilizing research tools such as Bloomberg, Intex, Excel, Tableau
Work Environment:
The position requires being within a commutable distance (90 minutes) of our Home Office in St. Paul, MN. You'll join us 3 days each week in our offices to collaborate and build relationships.
