JOB SUMMARY

The Safety Manager supports development and monitoring of the Company safety programs to minimize and eliminate events caused by unsafe acts.  This position is responsible for working with all employment levels to identify, analyze, and resolve safety issues, and to address differences between the company safety programs and local, client site programs.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Site metrics
  • Audits and risk assessments
  • Awareness training
  • First Aid/CPR/AED training delivery
  • Incident investigation
  • Ergonomic interactions
  • Investigate employee safety concerns.
  • Reports any deficiencies in the above to the regional lead. Responds timely to additional requests from the regional lead or EHS managers.
  • Travel to offsite events, perform event safety risk assessment and provide health & safety support for events. 
  • Coordinates the site Emergency Response Team (ERT): Recruit and train ERT members
  • With assistance from required parties, implement facilities site wide evacuation drills.
  • Assist Return to Office initiatives.   • All functions, duties, or tasks are to be carried out in an honest, ethical, and professional manner and are to be performed in conformance with applicable company policies and procedures.  In the event of uncertainty or lack of knowledge of company policies and procedures, employees are required to request clarification or explanations from superiors or authorized company representatives.
  • Respond as needed during “after hours” emergencies.
  • Conduct incident investigations. Complete reports and submit to appropriate party.
  • Maintain site EHS metrics and distribute as required.
  • Collaborate with Security and Workplace to monitor standards and regulations.
  • Conduct regular (weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual) audits and inspections in a timely manner and submit them to the appropriate party.
  • Track and report progress on corrective and preventative actions arising from monitoring activities and incidents.
  • Make sure sites have easy access to EHS documentation such as Safety Data Sheet binder, Evacuation maps, etc. (coordinate with IFM partners as needed).
  • Using provided meeting technology, schedule and facilitate a variety of meetings to disseminate gathered information.
  • Maintain a client service approach to problem solving health and safety concerns

  1. Conduct site safety assessments for new contracts, or whenever new requests for service provision are submitted by the client.
  2. Develop and assist in the implementation of the client’s site safety program as related to officer assigned roles and responsibilities, and Securitas site specific safety programs including the site specific  Injury Illness Prevention Program and Heat Illness Prevention Program and Post Orders
  3. Assist in development and implementation of safety training programs for Securitas employees
  4. Assist with accident and injury investigation, to include:  determination of root cause, OSHA  classification/recordability, safety precautions to prevent future similar incidents and to work with client to address and remove identified safety concerns in the workplace as related to officer assigned roles and responsibilities
  5. Conduct site visits for the purpose of safety field observations.
  6. Interact with the security force in a manner which enhances and improves safety performance, morale and skills.
  7. Enforce and comply with all Securitas policies, Federal & State Regulations, and Client programs
  8. Assist in resolving safety concerns in a competent and responsive manner to foster and create a Safety Conscious Work Environment supportive of positive, honest, and open exchange of ideas and differing opinions
  9. Assist with the development of Company safety goals
  10. Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AT ENTRY

Additional qualifications may be specified and receive preference, depending upon the nature of the position.

 

MINIMUM HIRING STANDARDS

  • Must have a reliable means of communication (i.e., pager or phone).
  • Must have a reliable means of transportation.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to acquire and maintain any specific special clearances/access requirements
  • Must be able to travel frequently
  • Must have the legal right to work in the United States.
  • Must have the ability to speak, read, and write English.
  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must be willing to participate in the Company’s pre-employment screening process, including drug screen and background investigation.

Job Requirements:

Education/Experience

  • College degree with sufficient training, experience or combination in Health & Safety. Minimum of 1 years of related experience.
  • Knowledge of reporting procedures.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Teams, OneNote, PowerPoint, Visio, Excel, as well as SharePoint.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Have a current passport or be able to obtain one.
  • Able to travel (international or domestic, as required) approximately 25% of the time or more, occasionally with limited notice.
  • Able to work evening or weekend hours when required, such as during an emergency or high-priority event.

Competencies (as demonstrated through experience, training, and/or testing)

  • Ability to receive direct or indirect instruction in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form, and act upon such instruction to accomplish a given task or project. In the event of unclear instruction, must have the ability to ask for clarification without prompting.Knowledge of security operations and human performance procedures
  • Competent writer; exhibits knowledge of spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, detail-oriented workplace where judgment and professionalism were necessities.
  • Capably work under pressure while maintaining a professional image and approach with both internal and external customers.
  • Thorough understanding of standard office procedures and practices.
  • Ability to create and revise documentation with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Ability to thrive in a detail-oriented environment with quickly changing requirements.

WORKING CONDITIONS (Physical/Mental Demands)

  • Maintaining composure in dealing with authorities, executives, clients and staff, occasionally under conditions of urgency and in pressure situations.

  • Speak and hear sufficiently to communicate in person and by phone
  • Maintain visual ability including close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus
  • Frequent sitting, standing, and walking, which may involve climbing stairs and walking up inclines and on uneven terrain
  • Occasional reaching with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling and crouching
  • Occasional lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds
  • May be exposed to inclement weather or be required to work in environments or under conditions that require the use of personal protective equipment, gear and devices and/or awareness of personal safety and safety of others
  • May be exposed to or required to handle sensitive and confidential information
