Security Benefit is looking for an HR Generalist to join our Human Resources team. This position will work in our Topeka or Overland Park, Kansas office with a hybrid schedule including both remote and on-site work. You are expected to travel to either office location as business needs require.

What Does the Job Look Like?As an HR Generalist on the Employee Relations Experience team you will play a key role in shaping the employee journey. Your responsibilities include onboarding new employees, managing offboarding processes, supporting employee relations and advising on HR policies. You will help foster a workplace where employees are empowered to live out our core values, and where our culture is not just a concept – but a mindset that drives our shared purpose. This role also supports retention strategies and ensuring accurate and up-to-date employee records are maintained to create a positive and engaging work environment. Primary duties include:
Manage an outstanding new hire experience by developing and implementing onboarding processes that foster an inclusive and welcoming environment. Ensure new employees feel valued and supported from day one and are integrated into the company culture.
Conduct positive offboarding processes to ensure a smooth transition.
Prepare and generate reports, surveys and presentations to support HR initiatives and data-driven decision-making. Interpret insights from this data to make recommendations for organizational practices and retention strategies.
Conduct background checks and assist with onboarding new hires at subsidiary companies.
Address employee concerns, resolve issues and conduct thorough, objective investigations.
Collaborate with the Employee Engagement Team to support events, activities, and reward and recognition programs to enhance employee engagement.
Work closely with HR Business Partners, Director Learning & Development, and other HR team members to implement Human Resources initiatives.
Ensure non-employee workers and leaders operate within guidelines to accomplish company goals and initiatives, while maintaining accurate records.
Manage aspects of immigration processes for the company, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations and maintaining accurate records. Provide guidance and support to employees and leaders on navigating immigration procedures.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommend best practices.
Stay informed on trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in HR, talent management, and employment law.
Represent the company during Department of Labor (DOL) audits and cases. Analyze audit findings and implement corrective actions to address any identified issues.
Perform additional duties as assigned to support the employee relations and engagement teams.
Who Are You?
Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
Minimum 3 years in human resources, in employee relations or related roles required.
SHRM-CP or other relevant certification preferred.
Knowledge of HR trends and best practices and policies.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and HR Management systems
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
Detail oriented and highly organized.
Strong organizational skills, capable of multitasking and prioritizing in a fast-paced environment.
Proficient in interpreting and applying relevant laws, guidelines and regulations.
Strong computer skills and proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
Discretion and confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
