What are the responsibilities and job description for the Low Voltage Hardware Support Rep position at Security Door Controls?
JOB OVERVIEW
Provide support and assistance through phone communication to SDC’s customer base in their efforts to select, install, maintain, program, and troubleshoot the entire suite of SDC access control and door hardware products. Door hardware and lock installation experience is required to perform this job successfully.
TECHNICAL SUPPORT
- Communicates with customers by phone or email and gives information needed to place orders such as product availability, product pricing, product descriptions, part numbers, best product for application, order lead times, and freight charges. Code orders given by customers in Industrios computer system.
- Assist customers with previously placed orders providing information on tracking shipments, order changes and order cancellations.
- Assists customers in technical support by explaining instructions and assisting with the installation of products while using appropriate templates and wiring diagrams.
- Distribute requested forms: UL Listings, product certification, credit application, credit card authorization form, return material authorization form, and literature request.
- Work with customers to navigate Security Door Controls website.
- Engineered Systems: assist in development of point-to-point and riser diagrams; generate system design folder.
- Review and submit edits for datasheets and product literature for accuracy.
- Respond to requests for engineering change.
- New product research, evaluation and provide training to customer service staff.
- Conduct product training for customers and reps in person or by Zoom
- Face/Speaker on Marketing Videos of product training for SDC Web and email campaigns
- Attend tradeshows
RETURNS COORDINATION
- RMA Coordination with Returns Department following RMA authorization procedures and dissemination of SDC Returns Policy
- Issue return authorizations
- Front-end entry of authorized returns for processing
- Communicate updates with customers regularly and follow up on any discrepancies in a timely manner
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
- Door hardware and lock installation experience preferred
- One or more years’ experience in the installation (tools & equipment), maintenance, programing, and troubleshooting of low voltage access control door locking hardware and access management systems; or an approved combination of accredited education, training, and work experience.
- Good verbal and written communication skills including the ability to read and understand architectural plans, point-to-point wiring diagrams, door hardware specifications and schedules.
- Ability to maintain clear and accurate notes/records.
- Computer literacy, proficiency with MS Office and the ability to use various specialized applications along with CRM modules.
- Excellent attention to detail, taking the initiative, collaborative, strong organizational, and prioritization skills.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
