What are the responsibilities and job description for the Locksmith Technician position at Security Equipment Inc?
As a Locksmith Technician, you will be responsible for the service and installation of mechanical and electronic locks. Security Equipment, Inc. is focused on providing our customers with innovative life safety solutions with unmatched customer service.
The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Install, repair and troubleshoot mechanical and electronic lock hardware
- Interpret a variety of instructions in written, diagram or schedule form
- Effectively present information to customers
- Receive verbal instructions from management or customers
- Ability to read operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
- Complete and submit paperwork accurately and on time
- Inspect installation sites and study work orders, building plans and installation manuals in order to determine materials requirements and installation procedures have been met
- Occasionally assist in the install security systems, alarm devices and related equipment
- Test locks in order to ensure proper function and to diagnose malfunctions
- Keep informed of new products and developments
- Request orders for replacement parts
- Performs a variety of marginal duties not listed that will be determined and assigned as needed
Requirements:
- 2 - 3 years of commercial locksmith experience or equivalent work experience
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical and electronic locking systems
- Intrusion, cameras and card Access experience is a plus
- Willingness to obtain any necessary licenses and or certifications to help locksmith duties in the states of Nebraska and Iowa
- Ability to utilize a variety of hand tools and specialty equipment with proficiency
- Proficient in written and verbal communication skills
- Able to climb ladders and manipulate hand tools safely
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment with tight deadlines and repetitive tasks
- Able to work various heights using a scissor lift and/or boom lift
- Maintain an organized and clean workspace
- Possess a valid driver’s license
- Successful completion of in-house and on-the-job training
- Ability to read blueprints and schematics
- Maintain an organized and clean workspace
- Pass a pre-employment background/drug screening
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The position requires lifting up to 50 pounds and frequent prolonged periods of standing, bending, pulling, twisting, reaching, climbing, and standing. Must be able to climb several flights of stairs or ladders throughout a typical day.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this position; the employee may be exposed to various climates and conditions. Wearing of safety clothing and equipment may at times be required.
EDUCATION:
- High school diploma or GED (Required)
- Technical school training a plus
SHIFT:
- 8-hour workday
- Some shifts may require overtime
- Travel may be required based on business needs
