What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Kubernetes Engineer position at Security Journey?
This is a remote (work from home) position for candidates based in the United States. We have an office in Raleigh, NC which provides opportunity for in-person collaboration.

What you’ll do:
- Maintain and enhance our custom Kubernetes operators that serve as the backbone of our sandbox architecture (see below for more information on these operators)
- Maintain and enhance our Kubernetes-based cloud infrastructure
- Work in a talented and dedicated team, providing code reviews and mentorship as appropriate to enhance code quality and consistency throughout the system
- Report to the VP of Engineering
- Several custom K8s operators that provide capacity management for hundreds of bespoke deployments, scheduling user workloads and routing user traffic to assigned pods to facilitate real-time, bi-directional user interactions
- Infrastructure like AWS, Terraform, Kubernetes, ArgoCD, Github, Kafka, Postgresql
- Backend technologies like Go and Python
- React
- Ideally, experience building custom K8s operator code
- Desire to implement excellent code quality, thorough test coverage, and other software engineering best practices
- The ability to improve team culture through dialog, mentorship, code reviews, and striking up a conversation from time to time
- Engagement with product management and customer support to understand the problems you are solving for our clients so you can make product features that matter
- High level of execution in a remote-first, startup environment where you can be curious, take ownership and help each other
- Cybersecurity interest or experience
