What are the responsibilities and job description for the Funeral Assistant position at Security National Financial Corporation?
Description
We are looking for individuals to be On-Call and available evenings, Monday through Friday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 AM the next morning. With two shifts available on Saturdays and Sundays 8:00 AM until 8:00 PM and from 8:00 PM until 8:00 AM.
During your On-Call shift you will need to be able to arrive, dressed and ready at the Heber location within 45 minutes of being contacted. On most occasions you will be with another staff member, it is rare that we only send one person. You will then transport the deceased to our location in Midway, or other location as deemed appropriate.
You will be trained to use our equipment; proper procedures for moving the deceased with care, respect, and safety; how to use universal precautions; and how to answer simple questions the family may have when you arrive.
This is a physically demanding position. While many deaths occur while the person is in a bed in an accessible location that we can get a cot right to the side of the bed and easily transfer them: many occur unexpectedly or are in an area that requires lifting and carrying. We expect every person who accepts this position to be able to lift 100 pounds.
There is an emotional component to this position. You are often meeting people on the worst day of their lives, especially when the death is sudden and more if that person is young.
This position is an On-Call position that pays when you are called out. It is a flat rate based on where you will be traveling to pick up the deceased.
There will be times when we need assistance beyond transporting the deceased. When this assistance is needed you will be offered hourly work.
