Duties and Responsibilities
- Deliver 5-star customer service to our patients
- Build rapport with new and existing patients
- Record all the information patients give you in their chart
- Report all patients leaving the practice to supervisor
- Daily monitoring of the next week’s schedule
- Ensure every patient has the dental benefit policy maximized
- Follow appointment cancelation protocol
- Follow appointment no-call no-show protocol
- Follow the 5-Star Certification protocol by using yellow phone sheet
- Complete insurance verifications for all new patients and updates for existing patients
- Verifications should be completed within 48 hours of the appointment being scheduled
- If we are unable to verify insurance, reach out to the patient and let them know we can still see them but it will be paid out of pocket and we can submit their claim once insurance is verified
- Complete insurance breakdown form
- Upload form to patient’s Smartdocss
- Complete insurance information in Edit Patient in Eaglesoft
- Process insurance claims
- Complete the same day
- Process electronic claims
- Process paper claims needing narratives
- Monitor insurance claims
- Stay up to date on Outstanding Claims
- For claims older than 30 days, call insurance companies to verify the claims were received and check if they need additional information from our office
- Explain dental benefits to patients with confidence
- Process insurance payments
- Enter insurance payments
- Follow up with patients if need be due to denials, limited payment or credits on account
- Monitor insurance companies that pay the patient
- Monitor common insurance errors
- Monitor patient accounts
- Be aware of outstanding patient accounts due to insurance issues
- Submit statements to outstanding accounts once claims are closed
Qualifications
- High school graduate or GED
- Valid State of Indiana license
- BLS CPR certification preferred
- Prior dental benefit experience preferred
