The Customer Service Associate supports the Sedgwick County Health Department and its mission by welcoming the community and providing exceptional public service. This position serves as a vital member of the clinic team by providing direct patient interaction, performing accurate and timely data entry, and ensuring fiscal processes comply with departmental standards. Communicates with the multidisciplinary team to provide competent, culturally appropriate, and customer focused care. Employee will provide support during public health emergencies (Activation Level 1).
Provide direct client interactions
Welcome and assist internal and external customers
Identify customer needs, clarify information, research issues; provide information and resources to clients as needed
Provide accurate and up to date information to clients
Schedule, reschedule, cancel and send reminders for customer appointments
Informs patients of financial obligations, payment requirements, and encourages initial payment of fees at time of service
Check-in and check-out clients politely and professionally
Perform accurate and timely data entry
Collect and enter insurance and/or financial information from clients
Collect and verify client demographic data
Accurately enter data into required electronic health record and other databases
Create/update medical records
Audit data to verify information is correct, timely, and complete
Collect, document and submit client payment information
Collect and post client payments accurately according to protocol
Complete and submit accurate reports of payments received per policy and procedure
Maintain and audit assigned cash bag per protocol
Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent. One year of experience in a customer service or administrative setting. Must complete Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA) IS 100 and 700 courses within 30 days of employment.
Preferred Qualifications: One-year experience in a medical office. Bilingual in English and either Spanish or Vietnamese.
