As a Manager of the Central Management Unit (CMU), you will operate from your home office while remaining an integral member of a nationwide supportive team dedicated to developing and managing the Case Management Unit (CMU). The CMU assists clinical staff throughout the entire case management process. You will establish and track unit objectives and create or adjust workflows to achieve these targets. As the Manager of the CMU, you are responsible for providing administrative support to the Clinical teams of Nurses and Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors assigned to prominent federal contracts, ensuring high standards of service delivery and compliance. Leading a proficient team of CMU Team Leaders and Associates plays a crucial role in enhancing patient care.

Actual compensation is influenced by a wide range of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and cost of a specific location. Manager, Central Management Unit Duties And Responsibilities
- Build and manage the CMU team supporting clinical staff through the lifecycle of the case management process.
- Oversee, and modify as-needed operations to ensure timely, effective, and efficient services to customers.
- Collaborate with clinical managers to identify opportunities to streamline and improve administrative support; identify and implement strategies to improve efficiency; and measure and report on results.
- Collaborate with the Program Manager, Account Manager, Quality and Training Teams, and assign clinical staff to support client and case management activities.
- Manage individual direct report workloads and customer service responsibilities as assigned and modify them as needed to optimize unit performance.
- Oversee the capture of patient referral data for case management services to enter referrals into proprietary systems in an expedited and accurate fashion
- Ensure timely upload of completed reports and invoices into appropriate systems.
- Monitor assigned worklists for incoming documents and referrals and adjusts workloads, as needed
- Collaborate with members of the clinical team to provide ongoing case management services.
- Create, review, update, and create Standard Operating Procedures, Work Instructions, and Job Aids.
- Guide direct reports in the application of policies and procedures to daily operations
- Hold one-on-one meetings with direct reports to discuss the status of work, the next steps, and feedback on job performance.
- Hold weekly or bi-weekly Team Meetings to communicate changes, educate the team, and discuss issues encountered by team members.
- Review reporting on key performance indicators for unit and contract and follow up as needed.
- Work with project stakeholders, including clients, to realize contract goals.
- Ability to work independently, multitask, and adjust priorities
- Ability to work well in a team environment with a low degree of supervision, handle a heavy workload, prioritize work for self and staff, and meet assigned deadlines
- Assume responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree
- A minimum of four years experience in workers' compensation, claims administration, utilization review, or related field.
- Minimum of four years of supervisory experience, including performing the job functions listed above.
- Customer Service experience in the medical field preferred
- Medical terminology expertise preferred
- Workers' compensation, disability, and/or liability claims processing experience preferred.
- Ability to utilize an Electronic Medical Record or other electronic platform
- Ability to utilize telehealth technologies (video, chat, etc.), when appropriate, for a variety of clinical care and care management services.
- Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft applications and demonstrate basic electronic technology understanding
- Computer literacy, including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to pass a credit and background check
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Appreciate and comply with all confidentiality requirements
- Understands information systems and data management
