We are searching for an energetic, passionate and motivated educator to join our middle school team.
Duties:
- Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the curriculum
- Ability to develop creative writing assignments and hands on projects
- Teach students using a variety of instructional methods and techniques
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes learning and respect
- Manage classroom behavior and maintain discipline according to school policies
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff to develop and implement educational programs
- Utilize technology and multimedia resources to enhance teaching and learning
- Participate in professional development activities to stay current with best practices in education
Qualifications:
- Ability to obtain a Fingerprint clearance card
- Pass a driving and background check required
- Bachelor's degree in Education or related field preferred
- Montessori experience desirable but not required
- Strong knowledge and ability to teach in a specific subject area (e.g. English, Science, P.E.) with willingness to contribute to other subject areas as needed.
- Experience teaching in middle school (7 & 8 grade) environment is required.
- Excellent classroom management skills
- Effective public speaking and communication skills
Job Requirements:
- 40 hours a week plus other teaching duties which include chaperone field trips
- Ability to teach up to 30 - 7th and 8th grade students in a group teaching environment
- Comfortable working on a teaching team vs solo classroom environment
- Open minded and adaptive to out of the box teaching methods and learning experience
- Instruct a rich, engaging curriculum in English Language Arts once a day, 4 days a week
- Teach Physical Education once a day or at minimum twice a week
- Contribute to elective offerings as needed.
- Help organize and keep students on task
- Chaperone field trips including two or more overnight trips required
