Job Description: Director of Curriculum

Reports to: Superintendent
The Community Education Director is responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating a variety of educational programs that support student learning and development beyond the traditional classroom. This role oversees tutoring, reteaching, enrichment programs, extended day programs, clubs, internships, and break camps for students in grades K-12. The director collaborates with school staff, families, and community partners to ensure that programs meet the diverse needs of students and foster academic growth, skill development, and personal enrichment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Tutoring, Reteaching & Enrichment Programs (K-12):
- Develop, implement, and evaluate tutoring and reteaching programs to support student academic success.
- Design enrichment opportunities that enhance student learning and engagement.
- Collaborate with teachers and administrators to align programs with curriculum goals.
- Monitor student progress and adjust programs as needed.
- Extended Day Programs (K-5):
- Plan and oversee before- and after-school programs that provide academic support, enrichment, and recreation.
- Hire, train, and supervise staff and volunteers.
- Ensure programs align with student needs and district goals.
- Clubs (K-12):
- Develop and manage extracurricular clubs that offer diverse opportunities for student engagement.
- Work with teachers, parents, and community members to expand club offerings.
- Track participation and effectiveness of programs.
- Internship Program (9-12):
- Establish and oversee internship opportunities for high school students.
- Develop partnerships with local businesses and organizations to provide real-world learning experiences.
- Monitor student progress and evaluate program success.
- Break Camps (K-5):
- Design and implement engaging educational and recreational camps during school breaks.
- Coordinate staffing, schedules, and activities to ensure a high-quality experience.
- Assess program effectiveness and make improvements as needed.
- Administration & Community Engagement:
- Manage program budgets, ensuring financial sustainability.
- Promote programs through outreach efforts to families and community partners.
- Seek funding opportunities, including grants and sponsorships.
- Maintain records and provide reports on program performance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Community Development, or a related field.
- Experience in program development, educational leadership, or student support services.
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including students, families, and community partners.
- Experience managing budgets and securing funding preferred.
Work Environment:
- Office setting with frequent interaction in school and community environments.
- Some evening and weekend work required for programs and events.
