For more information go to https : / / nyceec.com .Position OverviewNYCEEC is seeking an experienced, pragmatic, and mission-aligned Director to join our team, playing a key role in managing organizational risks while also supporting our goal to achieve meaningful impact aligned with our mission and vision. The ideal candidate will balance a thoughtful approach to risk mitigation with a can-do attitude in addressing financing challenges. The Director is expected to have an important role at NYCEEC and support NYCEEC’s work of advancing the clean energy economy.Reporting to the CEO and working closely with other members of the NYCEEC team and our Board, the Director will play a significant role in NYCEEC’s work, both in its normal lending operations and in financing programs where NYCEEC collaborates with other organizations and / or federal, state or local government agencies.The NYCEEC team works in a hybrid model, presently in the office two days per week and remote the remainder. NYCEEC’s office is in midtown Manhattan. This is a full-time position, although NYCEEC is willing to consider candidates willing to accept a reduced time commitment (32 hours per week) with a commensurate reduction in compensation.The anticipated start date of this position is May 5, 2025, but it is possible for the position to start earlier or later.Key ResponsibilitiesWork collaboratively with other NYCEEC senior staff and Board members to evaluate the credit and other risks associated with new transaction opportunities in accordance with NYCEEC governance and credit approval processes.Evaluate the credit and other risks associated with new programs and products offered by NYCEEC and participate in their development and implementation.Manage certain elements of loan administration on NYCEEC’s portfolio on an ongoing basis, in a team-oriented, collaborative manner : Approve any construction draws, in coordination with legal and engineering staff.Approve, and / or evaluate, loan extensions and modifications.Conduct post-closing legal and credit file review.Manage (or assist in the management of) any loans requiring special servicing, restructuring, or workout, in collaboration with other team members as well as outside counsel and advisors.Identify and evaluate risk across the enterprise.Support (and in some cases, lead) efforts to develop and maintain relationships with key organizations which fund NYCEEC. Review existing research (and lead or co-lead original research efforts) on new approaches to mitigating risk and maximizing our organizational impact.Pursue, develop, and implement innovative strategies to maximize impact while managing enterprise risks.Attend industry conferences and functions.Participate in review and revision of organizational policies and procedures including NYCEEC credit standards and underwriting guidelines.Supervise staff working on risk or impact management, as appropriate / assigned.QualificationsAn interest in NYCEEC’s mission and vision, and the transition to a clean energy economy.A Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of ten years of relevant professional work experience (e.g., business, public administration, public policy, accounting, finance, or related field).Experience with matters such as loan underwriting, construction monitoring, loan modifications, loan extensions, foreclosures, and loan workouts is strongly preferred.Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.), Adobe Acrobat, Salesforce or other customer / constituent relationship management (CRM) platform, and project management software / tools strongly preferred.Skills and AttributesExceptional judgment; discretion when handling sensitive or confidential matters.Strong organizational skills, including the ability to lead initiatives and to prioritize and execute multiple efforts under deadlines.Strong and effective communication skills appropriate for senior-level interactions with key stakeholders including lenders to NYCEEC and NYCEEC Board members.An ability to build rapport with other stakeholders and to manage junior staff and external consultants effectively. Interest in public policy and environmental sustainability.Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and constantly evolving environment, and to work independently as well as collaboratively, navigating a diversity of working styles and personalities.Please note that this position description contains a general list of the essential responsibilities and qualifications required for the position. NYCEEC also offers a discretionary bonus based on annual organizational and individual performance.
