A 125 year old, privately held company with several facilities throughout the Midwest and Southern states is hiring a Maintenance Technician in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. We are currently looking for an individual with industrial maintenance experience including welding, fabrication, hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical, and heavy equipment operation.
POSITION – Maintenance Mechanic
JOB LOCATION – Eau Claire, Wisconsin
STARTING DATE – Immediately
EMPLOYMENT TERM – Direct Hire
EMPLOYMENT TYPE – Full-Time
WORK HOURS (SHIFT) – Day Shift (Monday-Friday starting at 6:30am, plus Saturday based on Maintenance Needs)
STARTING PAY – $30-33 per hour DOE
REQUIRED EDUCATION – High School Diploma/GED or equivalent required
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE – Five years or more of Maintenance experience required, must have strong fabrication skills and know multiple different types of welding. Must have experience operating torch and plasma cutter. Must know electrical, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
The goal of Maintenance Mechanic is to proactively manage maintenance function to maintain plant productivity.
Responsibilities:
- Perform welding and fabrication work on stationary equipment.
- Ensure proper parts inventory for efficient repairs.
- Maintain facility equipment including downstream sorting lines, conveyors, and machines.
- Conduct preventive maintenance (PM) on stationary equipment such as auto shredders, mobile equipment, forklifts, front end loaders, and skid steers.
- Diagnose and repair industrial equipment, including auto shredders, mobile equipment, forklifts, front end loaders, skid steers, trucks, and trailers.
- Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair machinery and various auto shredder plant equipment.
- Work with hydraulic, pneumatic, and electric systems, PLCs, valves, cylinders, bearings, and electric motors.
- Ensure all equipment is running properly by coordinating with key operations personnel (tower operator, forklift operator, loader).
- Schedule maintenance as required and maintain all maintenance records and daily reports.
- Assign, review, document, and check maintenance work done by employees, providing on-the-job training as needed.
- Address ordinary work difficulties and may be involved in tasks such as ordering parts, welding, fabricating, and performing minor electrical repairs.
Qualifications:
- Proficient in basic arithmetic and able to compute ratios, rates, and percentages.
- Strong reading, writing, and verbal communication skills.
- Interpersonal skills necessary to oversee and direct subordinates effectively.
- Familiarity with yard vehicles, forklifts, loaders, and material separators preferred.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 30–50 pounds.
- Proficiency in welding (Stick & MIG) and have strong fabrication skills.
- Must know how to operate a torch and plasma cutter.
- Must have hydraulics, pneumatics and electrical experience.
- Willingness to perform other related duties or special projects as assigned.
