QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree; holds Special Education Administrator license or
Principal/Assistant Principal licensure; 3-5 years’ experience in
Collaborative setting; minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a substantially separate setting with students who have disabilities
REPORTS TO: Principal
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES: The Assistant Principal is responsible for providing support to the Principal. Works in conjunction and in collaboration with the Principal. Works directly under the supervision of the Principal in providing guidance and support to all the campus programs, the staff, the students, and all stakeholders.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Assistant Principal will:
- Maintain a physically and emotionally safe and healthy environment for students and staff;
- Provide general program supervision and oversight;
- Be visible in all programs as necessary;
- Be a point person for staff/triage/support as necessary student needs, parent communication, district communication;
- Participate in referral meetings;
- Conduct tours;
- Act as a mentor as needed;
- Participate in data teams for the program;
- Participate in leadership team for the program;
- Assist in staff coverage as needed;
- Participate in all aspects of student restraint review/submission processes;
- Participate in classroom staffing assignments;
- Lead staff development/professional development;
- Participate in the evaluation process of select staff as a contributing evaluator;
- Assist Principal with staff supervision and evaluation
- Participate in staff interview process;
- Facilitate staff meetings as necessary;
- Act as liaison between family, school and districts
- Provide and schedule appropriate trainings such QBS;
- Participate in master scheduling;
- Support and facilitate the IEP process, supervise the implementation of the IEP by reviewing and monitoring timelines for IEPS and Three year Re-evaluations;
- Active member in collaborative leadership meetings;
- Other duties relevant to the role as requested by the Principal

- The noise level in the work environment is conducive to a school. The noise level in this position varies. When visiting a building the noise level will be loud, in the office, quiet and at meetings, varies.
- Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, hear, stand and walk occasionally student restraint or moving students is required. Ability to lift 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The position requires meeting deadlines with severe time constraints, interacting with the students, staff, parents and occasionally public agency representatives. The employee is responsible for the safety, well-being and work output of others; must be flexible in order to meet demands from several people.
