Reporting to the Sr. Director of Technology Development, we are seeking one exceptional Technical Project Manager to join our Research and Development team based in our Redwood City office. This group consists of scientists, software engineers, and consultants. The driving focus of this team is working diligently and timely towards a prototype system on technologies aligned with high throughput proteomics.
Seer’s new Technical Project Manager will be empowered to plan and manage various R&D projects within Research and Development. The ideal candidate will have a track record of accomplishments in the life sciences/proteomics/mass spec technology. The successful candidate is likely to have a background in life sciences/proteomics/mass spec technology with 5 years of experience in managing R&D projects with fast-paced timelines and a mix of onsite and remote key stakeholders. This role requires strong communication skills.
This role is based at Seer HQ in Redwood Shores, CA.
Responsibilities & Goals
- The R&D group is focused on bringing new products to the proteomics marketplace. Areas of specific responsibility and attention for the Technical Project Manager position will include:
- Provide Technical Project Management support for developing a prototype and successfully exiting the ideation and concept phase.
- Author and manage the development project schedule driven by milestones.
- Author and manage project-related documentation, including project charters, plans, budgeting, and resourcing.
- Work closely with project stakeholders to incorporate their needs and elements into the project plan.
- Manage project communications within the R&D group and to stakeholders outside the group through core team meetings.
- Work closely with the technical lead to Identify and manage project risks with the project team.
- Manage project scope and schedule to ensure timely delivery of the expected outputs.
Background & Qualifications
The successful candidate for the position of Technical Project Manager will be a self-starter with a demonstrated record of success in a fast-moving, dynamic environment. Candidates must have a strong entrepreneurial orientation, excellent communication skills, the ability to lead cross-functional team efforts, and a commitment to competing with the highest level of integrity.
Key requirements include:
- M.S. or PhD, in the biological sciences, chemistry, engineering, or physical sciences.
- 10 years of industrial experience with a proven track record supporting Technical Project Management, including successful new product introductions.
- Hands-on ability to generate and manage the Gantt chart for milestone accomplishment.
- Experience with Agile methodology is desired.
- Demonstrated ability to interact with a diverse group of individuals that make up a typical project team, including technical, quality, marketing, etc.
- Experience with MS Project and/or Asana project tracking and managing applications highly desired.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, with demonstrated experience in cross-functional and timely communication.
- Strong and collaborative work ethic; must be a self-starter and persistent in achieving objectives to support Seer’s scientific and business goals.
- Must work well in a small team setting, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively while meeting scheduled deadlines in a fast-paced environment
