POSITION SUMMARY
The PART TIME Billing Representative position coordinates all aspects of the insurance department in the daily operation of the facility in accordance with Federal, State, and facility policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include the following:
Promotes the mission, vision, and values of the organization
Proficiently operates the telephone and computer system
Verifies insurance coverage
Notifies patients prior to surgery of their portion of payment
Gathers deductible/copay information and communicates to admitting regarding monies to be collected from patient
Enters patient charges and posts payments to patient accounts
Processes payments collected
Processes patient statements monthly
Follows up on denied claims
Assists with month end activities
Protecting the patient’s rights, dignity, and privacy
Participates in the performance appraisal process
Uses problem-solving and conflict resolution skills to foster effective work relationships with team members
Maintains required competencies
Maintains knowledge of and follows policies, procedures, Code of Conduct, and all Federal and state rules

Working knowledge of health care environment and insurance processing with computerized software.
Knowledge of insurance plans, policies, and procedures
Ability to adapt to changing insurance regulations
Ability to perform tasks in a timely manner
Ability to speak, read, and write in English
Ability to work well under pressure and accept additional assignments willingly
Ability to work flexible hours as needed to accommodate workload
Ability to concentrate, think, and learn
Ability to hear, see, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, lift, push and pull
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
High School diploma or GED. Minimum one (1) year experience in computerized appointment scheduling. Two years medical clerical experience preferred. BLS is a plus. All employees must be able to provide proof of identity and right to work in the United States.
