Job Summary
SEGA is looking for an experienced professional in the Location-Based Experience entertainment category, with a proven record of the strategic planning and execution of LBE programs for AAA brands.
Reporting to the head of Transmedia West Licensing & Partnerships, the Director of Location-Based Experiences will help drive the strategic planning, development and implementation of SEGA’s immersive entertainment experiences business, primarily but not limited to the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. This position will play a key role in the development of the budding LBE business for SEGA, by shaping fan experiences with SEGA brands and creating revenue-driving opportunities. This role will interface closely with SEGA teams in North America, Latin America, Europe, and Japan. The position is partially remote, requiring three days in our Burbank, CA office.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Business Development:
- Help identify and pursue opportunities for the Sonic brand in the LBE category, primarily focusing on license-out opportunities for the Sonic brand and other SEGA brands
- Develop compelling pitch materials (presentations, concepts, etc.), demonstrating the strength of Sonic the Hedgehog brand and SEGA as a top-tier entertainment company
- Help forecast revenue, attendance, and profitability, helping management make data-driven decisions to launch SEGA LBE programs
- Research potential partners and lead comms to set up pitch meetings to key stakeholders
- Work with SEGA product development as needed on the creative development of program elements
- Strategic Leadership:
- Work with both the head of Licensing and Head of SEGA brands to develop the vision, strategy, and roadmap for location-based entertainment projects.
- Identify market trends and innovative technologies to enhance SEGA LBE offerings
- Build relationships with brands that are like-minded and target similar consumers.
- Work with outside consultants as needed on long-term strategic planning
- Project Management:
- Lead cross-functional team meetings in the planning, development, and execution of LBE projects to ensure all stakeholders are informed and supportive
- Work with partners to establish timelines, budgets, and performance benchmarks to deliver projects on time and within scope
- Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and external partnerships
- Cross-collaboration
- Works closely across many functional areas within the SEGA Transmedia team including Brand Marketing, Animation, Lore, Games Production and many others.
- Working in-office is an essential function of this position. This requirement of face-to-face interaction is in place to ensure effective supervision, collaboration, and teamwork. In-office attendance is required for the following reasons:
- For effective supervision of employees and our work product, which includes ensuring all employees have necessary oversight of their work and access to supervisory assistance, which includes meetings to review work product, deadlines, and status.
- To foster communication and collaboration among team members, which includes the following: allowing for spontaneous brainstorming sessions and exchanges of ideas, quick access to team members to enable collaborative problem-solving, and stronger cohesion among co-workers and within teams.

- To enhance understanding of our stakeholders’ work and business needs, facilitate a more seamless and organic workflow, and ultimately increase efficiency and successful outcomes.

Qualifications
Qualifications and Skills:
- 8 years of experience in entertainment, hospitality, or theme park business, with 3 years in a leadership role
- Deep contact list within LBE across various players, agencies, associations (IAPPA, TEA, etc.)
- Versed in feasibility studies and other important elements of LBE
- Proven track record of working with owner-operators to develop LBE projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, entertainment, hospitality, or related field.
- Knowledge of Sonic the Hedgehog and Gaming and Entertainment IP in general
- Expertise in project management, budgeting, and team leadership.
- Creative vision with a deep understanding of guest engagement and entertainment trends.
- Technical knowledge of interactive technologies and immersive media is highly desirable.
- Ability to lead people, build trust and has good persuasive skills, ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Willing to conduct meetings with Europe and Japan at off hours
Salary : $180,000 - $225,000
