What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Supervisor position at Segers Aero Corporation?
Purpose of Position: To supervise the department staff and to give direction in the preparations, repair and shipment of aircraft engines following company policies, SOPs and Repair Station Manual
Essential Functions: (must be able to perform these functions, with or without a reasonable accommodation)
- Supervises/coordinates the production of Product line WIP directly
- Manages, directs, trains, and works along side shop mechanics to ensure timely completion of product
- Responsible for holding production meetings with the technicians, painters, and other team members as required
- Responsible for completing Corrective Action Reports with the applicable Lead Technician
- Accountable for ensuring that shelf life requirements are met throughout the department
- Accountable for ensuring that 6S, TPM, tool control, OJT and all other quality requirements are met throughout the department.
- Accountable for ensuring WIP is processed correctly and efficiently in the department
- Accountable for maintaining proper consumable material levels
- Accountable for ensuring all shop deadlines are met
- Accountable for ensuring monthly revenue numbers are met
- Trains, coaches and develops employees as necessary to ensure production goals are met and proper procedures and policies are followed.
- Timely completes, approves and adjusts time and attendance/labor reporting as required
- Assists Manager in completing employee reviews and documenting work performance
- Ensures diligent use of the production software system
- Performs maintenance on aircraft and engine accessories following company policies, SOPs and Repair Station Manual.
- Fills in for and performs all duties of Shop employees as necessary
- Maintains and supports cost control efforts for labor and material to support facility/department financial goals
- Travels as required, typically up to 20% annually.
- Confers with manager to recommend changes such as: equipment utilization, production methods and procedures to increase efficiency of department and promote improvement
- Attends all safety and health training, as required, in a timely manner
- Works when scheduled and complies with company attendance policy
- Observes and practices all safety procedures and PPE requirements (e.g. safety glasses, ear plugs, face shields etc.) and ensures others comply with safety requirements.
- Responsible for ordering materials, consumables, tooling and other assets required in the Department
- Works overtime as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: (these are required to enable job holder to perform the essential functions of the job)
- At least 18 years of age or older.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to travel up to 20% annually both domestically and internationally to support the business needs

- Proficient in using a variety of hand tools, special tools, and GSE required to perform assigned maintenance tasks.
- Must be able to read and interpret SDS and Technical Data Sheets to safely mix paints in accordance with specifications.
- Must be able to use scales for mixing ratios
- Must be able to apply common sense
- Must be able to effectively read, write, speak and understand English language
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Word and Excel and the ability to learn other company specific software
- Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide, using fractions and decimals; compute percentages, ratios, rates and interpret graphs.
- Must be able to comply with OSHA requirements and standards to properly wear all applicable PPE as required
- Must be able to see within normal range of vision with or without corrective lenses
- Must be able to hear running machinery
- Must be able to use hands, wrists, and fingers repetitively
- Must have exceptional eye-hand coordination
- Must be able to stand, walk, climb stairs, reach overhead, squat, bend, twist, stoop, kneel as needed for 8 hours per day.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. repetitively with or without assistance as needed for 8 hours per day
Experience and Education Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- A&P or Repairman’s Certificate required.
- 5 years experience working in aviation required.
- 3 years working on T56/501 engines required.
- Supervisory/leadership experience working maintenance in an MRO preferred.
- Must pass criminal background check, DOT FAA pre-employment drug screen and comply with all applicable FAA required regulations.
- Position is considered safety sensitive in accordance with DOT and FAA regulations. Subject to drug and alcohol testing per FAA’s regulations (14 CFR part 120 and 49 CFR part 40).
Work Conditions:
Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration. Noise is generally loud.
