Segue Inc., a non-profit outpatient mental health facility that has been providing quality mental health services to the citizens of Jackson & Hillsdale counties in Michigan for over 30 years, is looking for a Bookkeeper for its Jackson, MI office.
The Bookkeeper plays a crucial role in managing the organization's financial transactions, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in bookkeeping and financial reporting. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, reconciling accounts, processing payroll, and supporting financial planning activities. The Bookkeeper works closely with the COO and other administrative staff to ensure smooth financial operations and regulatory compliance.
The schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM. This position pays $25.00 per hour.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.
- Strong knowledge of bookkeeping principles and accounting standards.
- Proficiency in Sage 50 Peachtree accounting software is highly desirable.
- Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Minimum typing speed of 35 words per minute with a high degree of accuracy.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle confidential information discreetly.
- Ability to analyze financial data and generate reports.
- May be subjected to a credit background check as part of the hiring process.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage financial transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
- Process and reconcile accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Support payroll processing and ensure timely tax disbursements.
- Assist in preparing financial statements, budgets, and reports.
- Maintain general ledger accounts, expense tracking, and cost center allocations.
- Prepare and process invoices, bills, and bank deposits.
- Reconcile vendor accounts, resolve discrepancies, and maintain financial records.
- Assist in the preparation of financial audits and regulatory compliance.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations, including W-9 and 1099 reporting.
- Safeguard and organize financial documents, following retention and disposal policies.
- Provide financial support for organizational planning and decision-making.
- Support procurement processes, including purchasing and expense tracking.
- Manage company assets, such as mobile devices and IT equipment allocation.
- Perform additional tasks or responsibilities as assigned, with flexibility in work hours.
