POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Segue Institute for Learning Public Charter School District is seeking a dedicated and qualified Certified Teacher Job Description High School English to join our team. This position will play a critical role in supporting the district’s mission of providing high-quality education to all students. The ideal candidate will be passionate about education, committed to student success, and capable of working collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plans and implements unit and rigorous lesson plans with standards-aligned curricula, lesson plans and activities to meet math standards
Teaches various mathematics subjects; algebra, geometry, and advanced mathematics subjects
Sets clear expectations, routines, and procedures to ensure productive and efficient use of class time
Provides formative and summative assessments to inform instructional practices and provide feedback to students
Establishes and model Legacy’s core values in all communication and interaction with students, staff and families
Demonstrates exceptionally strong instructional and classroom management skills
Differentiates classroom instruction to meet the needs of all learners, including students with disabilities and multilingual learners, and provides accommodations and scaffolding instruction where appropriate
Centers classroom management and student behavior in PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention Support) and restorative justice practices
Communicates effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, families, and other professionals on a regular basis.
Ensures that student growth and achievement is continuous and culturally appropriate for age group, subject area, and/or program classification.
Assumes responsibility for meeting his/her course and school-wide student performance goals
Regularly communicates with families through phone calls, emails and face to face meetings about student growth and performance
Creates, cultivates positive relationships and community with all members of the school community (Segue Institute of Learning, students, teachers, families)
Leads a 9th grade advisory cohort that provides guidance, advocacy, individual learning plan (ILP), and their transition to college
Supports school safety and student learning through a school-wide multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS)
Collaborates with coaches, and administrative team to improve instructional, culture-building and leadership skills
Attends all professional learning, team planning, calibration and data analysis meetings
Participates and engages in structured and informal learning and development opportunities
Collaborates with other staff members and actively participates in training, professional learning and and leading activities
Engages in educational development practices founded in equity and access for all students
Supports with daily school operations as needed
Other duties as assigned by administration
