POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Segue Institute for Learning Public Charter School District is seeking a dedicated and qualified Certified Reading Specialist to join our team. This position will play a critical role in supporting the district’s mission of providing high-quality education to all students. The ideal candidate will be passionate about education, committed to student success, and capable of working collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Guide and support classroom teachers in planning and implementing state/district literacy standards and high-quality literacy curriculum
Guide and support middle school classroom teachers with the interpretation of students' needs and progress in the academic setting
Guide and support classroom teachers in organizing classrooms and choosing appropriate and meaningful supplemental materials for effective learning
Conduct or schedule staff development activities related to literacy
Serve as instructional coach and content advisor to teachers
Implement district coaching model with caseload of teachers
Conduct demonstration/model lessons for teachers, teams of teachers, or departments
Work with teachers to develop formative, summative and performance based assessments that align with the state literacy standards
Work with administration and other instructional coaches to analyze school achievement data to support and direct school-wide literacy performance
Work administration and other instructional coaches analyze individual student achievement data to plan, implement and modify as needed, appropriate intervention programs based on student need.
Provide direct service (literacy interventions) to students needing Tier 2 / 3 interventions within the classroom as well as during intervention blocks.
Work collaboratively with the school-level academic team to organize and schedule professional development sessions for teachers.
Dedicate half time to Title I duties, including providing literacy interventions for Title I students, providing teachers of Title I students support in unit design, lesson planning, and assessment, and coordinating parent contact for Title I students via phone, email, conferences, and workshops.
