Primary Purpose
To provide speech and language services and appropriate intervention services to eligible students under
the direction of a licensed supervisor. To maintain speech and language special education records and
documentation as directed by licensed supervisor.
Qualifications
Education/Certification:
Bachelors Degree in speech-language pathology from an accredited college or university.
Valid Texas License as a speech language therapy assistant granted by the Texas Board of Examiners for Speech
Language Pathology and Audiology.
Minimum of 50 hours of observation and direct clinical service as directed by the Assistant's License
requirements.

REMOTE LEARNING
Create a virtual classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
Be available by phone, email, or video conferencing during indicated work hours (confirm expected work hours with campus administration) to confer with district personnel, students, and/or parents. The rest of the workday is committed to planning, preparing, implementing, and evaluating lessons and activities.
EVALUATION: All employee performance will be evaluated at least annually in accordance with Board Policy. Classroom instruction will be evaluated using the statewide evaluation. Evaluation is designed to improve the quality of instruction and employee performance which may affect employment recommendations. Each employee will sign receipt of the Job Description/Evaluation form at the beginning of each year. At the time of the annual evaluation review, the employee will sign for receipt of a copy of the evaluation.
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's Policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.

Major Responsibilities And Duties
- Knowledge of habilitation and rehabilitation of speech, language, and hearing disorders.
- Plan and provide appropriate individual and group therapy to students consistent with speech/language goals contained in Individual Education Plans (IEP) under the direction of the licensed supervisor.
- Participate in the Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee if: a) meets requirements set forth in licensing board and b) is approved by licensed supervisor.
- Participate in determining student progress and readiness for termination of therapy services.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to plan and implement classroom based activities to improve oral and written language skills of students under the direction of the licensed supervisor.
- Attend regularly scheduled speech therapy meetings.
- Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
- Administer routine tests as directed by supervisor when the licensed supervisor has assured proper training and administration of such tests.
- Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rules and State Board of Examiners Licensing Board for Speech Language Pathology and Audiology.
- Assist in the selection of materials, equipment, and other instructional material.
- Create an environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of students.
- Establish control and administer discipline according to board policies and administrative regulations.
- Submit schedules or reports as requested including Medicaid and inventory reporting
- Maintain current knowledge of TEKS and assist with campus staff development as requested.
- Conduct duties within required timelines.
- Ability to travel to multiple work locations as assigned.
- Assist parents and students regarding speech and language strategies.
- Collaborate with local agencies, physicians as needed.
- Coordinate with local ECI programs as appropriate.
- Assist with Child Find as requested.
