About the Job
We're seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to join our team! As a key member of our Legal & Compliance department, you'll play a critical role in supporting the Senior Director of our Bank Legal Team.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Regulatory guidance: You'll work closely with our business teams and other members of the Legal, Compliance, and Corporate Development Department to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Contract negotiation: You'll collaborate with our business unit solutions teams and operations teams to draft and negotiate contracts and agreements, ensuring adherence to applicable regulations, standards, and procedures.
- Legal issue management: You'll proactively manage and advise on various legal issues, including those related to custody and trust operations, and work with outside counsel as needed.
You'll be working closely with our senior staff, managing junior staff, and collaborating with market unit teams to ensure decision-making stays within appropriate risk appetites.
We're looking for a highly motivated and experienced attorney who can bring their expertise and passion to this role.
About the Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have:
- A law degree from an accredited U.S. law school
- Knowledge of federal laws impacting financial service companies, particularly bank laws and regulations
- Experience in regulatory compliance in an operations, custody, trust, or similarly regulated area
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to balance business partnership with independent judgment and raising sensitive issues in a timely manner
