Project Manager

As a Project Manager at Seifert Engineering, you will be responsible for overseeing the entire project lifecycle, from receipt of a purchase order to the successful delivery of high-quality products. This role requires coordinating with various departments, managing project schedules, and ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget. You will serve as the primary point of contact for clients, provide technical support, and identify opportunities for improvement throughout the project. Your work will be critical in ensuring both customer satisfaction and project profitability. 

SUMMARY: A Project Manager at Seifert Engineering is responsible for managing all aspects of a project from the moment a purchase order is received to ensure the delivery of a product that meets the client’s expectations. This role is pivotal in delivering high-quality products on time and within budget. The Project Manager serves as the primary point of contact, coordinating tasks across various departments, including estimating, sales, detailing, engineering, operations, logistics, and installation. In addition to customer service, the Project Manager plays a key role in promoting the company brand, understanding client expectations, identifying change order opportunities, and maintaining project schedules. This position is crucial for ensuring a smooth and profitable project for Seifert Engineering and a successful solution for the client.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Project Coordination: Utilize knowledge of manufacturing processes, engineering practices, mathematics, and building materials to ensure drawings meet project-specific requirements. 
• Technical Communication: Determine necessary dimensions, materials, and other details to create clear and complete drawings, and effectively communicate this information to detailers/drafters. 
• Technical Support: Provide material take-offs for inside sales and prepare detailed drawings of parts from contract and general design drawings. Make revisions and create bills of materials as needed. 
• Bill of Materials: Develop bills of material, material take-offs, and product specifications, including tolerance and dimensioning, welding, and manufacturing symbols. 
• Scheduling & Planning: Develop and maintain project schedules according to purchase order requirements.  
• Project Implementation: Plan and execute all project activities, including design, detailing, engineering review, production, outside services, finishing, and shipping, as per the terms of the purchase order. 
• Change Management: Review customer documents for changes or additions to the original scope. Collaborate with account managers or estimators to generate and follow up on change orders. 
• Quality Improvement: Direct, review, and approve product design changes. Recommend enhancements to improve cost, delivery, and quality for the customer. 
• Product Strategy: Participate in the overall strategy, development, and manufacturing coordination for new, existing, and emerging products. 
• Project Troubleshooting: Coordinate and troubleshoot project scope with production, sales, detailing, outside vendors, customers, and logistics to ensure timely completion. 
• Shipping Coordination: Oversee all packaging and shipping requirements, including truckload planning and crate design, to ensure safe delivery to the job site. Coordinate delivery with the customer. 
• Documentation: Maintain accurate records and documentation for all project-related activities. 
• Additional Duties: Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisors. 

Qualifications: 

• Education: An associate degree in drafting/design or a related course of study is required. A bachelor's degree in a relevant field is preferred. 
• Technical Skills: Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Project), SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCAD, and database
• applications such as MRP/ERP systems. 
• Experience: Several years of experience in fabrication and design, as well as previous project management experience, are preferred. A background in structural steel is also advantageous. 
• Professional Engineer (PE) license highly preferred. 
• Project Management: Strategic, proactive, and persistent, with the ability to manage multiple projects and customers simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. 
• Learning & Adaptability: A strong desire to learn new products and a positive attitude towards change are essential. 

Physical Demands & Work Environment: 

• Dexterity & Vision: Frequent use of hand dexterity and visual acuity for tasks such as operating equipment, reading technical information, and using a keyboard. 
• Physical Activity: Occasionally required to perform physical activities such as climbing, balancing, bending, stooping, kneeling, or crawling.
• Lifting: Ability to lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds. 
• Work Environment: Ability to work in a standard office environment and occasionally visit manufacturing or construction sites.
