The Details:

 

Location: Hybrid work headquartered in Downtown Seattle, remote work possible from WA or OR

Work Schedule: Our typical business hours are 8:30-5:00 Monday-Friday.

Travel Requirements: Up to 10%

About the Position:

Reporting to the Managing Director of Strategy Delivery the Director of the Project and Portfolio Management Office (PMO Director) is a member of the leadership team and responsible for directing all project and portfolio management functions and managing priorities across the organization. This position directs a team of project managers who manage large, complex, high-visibility projects involving multiple support units and internal and external stakeholders.

This position will be deeply involved in improving the consistency, predictability, and efficiency of project delivery capabilities. It will develop and implement project management best practices across the SEIU 775 Benefits Group. The PMO Director will have primary responsibility for owning key business processes, including the Organizational Alignment process focused on ensuring prioritization, visibility, and resource alignment. An essential partner to the Senior Leadership Team, the Director will partner to lead strategic planning efforts, support the senior leadership team in scoping new initiatives, and set priorities and balance conflicting demands for resources.

You Will:

  • Lead project management and business operations teams who serve the entire organization, including key project management vendors and partners while you supervise, coach and mentor PMO staff;
  • Develop a vision and long-term strategic plan to support current and future project management needs;
  • Manage the development, implementation and maintenance of project management policies, standards and procedures including standardized tools, processes and frameworks;
  • Lead the organization change efforts to mature the PMO including business operations process and prioritization framework to develop, manage and implement a systematic approach to prioritize projects and align resources;
  • Lead the internal processes to deliver comprehensive strategic and operational plans that align with the organization’s mission and vision;
  • Lead the internal processes that monitor progress against the strategic and operational plans, make recommendations for course corrections and prepare regular reports for presentation to senior leaders and Boards of Directors;
  • Lead project planning and preparation of early-stage material (e.g., business cases, project charters) for select projects sponsored by the executive leadership team;
  • Oversee the Manager of the Project Management Office and the Manager of Portfolio Management;
  • Provide oversight and leadership for project managers who are managing multiple concurrent projects, ensuring alignment of vision, strategy, and execution with goals and metrics set forth by the senior leadership team;
  • Establish a project management practice community to facilitate collaboration and best-practice sharing among project managers and essential PMO stakeholders; build and maintain relationships with senior leadership.

 You will Have:

 

  • 7 years of experience in project management, leadership and coordinating projects and strategy across multiple teams and individuals, ensuring tasks, documents and deadlines were all effectively managed and met; 
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree or 10 years experience in lieu of degree;
  • 5 years’ experience in managing a diverse team within a PMO structure;
  • Positive, high-energy person who thrives in a climate of growth and change;
  • Fluent in standard program and project management tools (Atlassian JIRA/Confluence, Smartsheet, Visio);
  • Expert knowledge and experience executing project management best practices;
  • Ability to analyze and present data and insights to ignite action, track and evaluate operational effectiveness and identify and mitigate risks;
  • Excellent communication skills: the ability to influence through presenting data and persuasively delivering information to support decision-making with all audiences, including senior leaders;
  • Proven history of fostering teamwork and collaboration across multiple functional areas with competing priorities;
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate collaborative solutions to complex multi-disciplinary problems, understanding potential impacts to processes;
  • Experience with supporting technology implementations;
  • Ability to develop staff to high levels of performance.

 

It Will Be Great if You Have:

  • Experience leading in a Non-profit
  • Experience leading in a cross functional shared services environment
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a business related field
  • PMP Certification

 

Salary Range:

  • $117,172.77 to $159,694.46

  • Fully Paid Medical, Dental and Vision;
  • 18 days PTO, 15 Sick days, 10 holidays, 1 floating holiday, 2 personal days and 1 week Winter Break;
