ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW
An increasing number of Americans – most of whom are women and people of color – are employed in service sector jobs that are marked by low wages, no health care, job insecurity, and lack of training and career advancement opportunities. The SEIU Education & Support Fund tackles these issues by designing and facilitating worker-centered, relationship-based, and accessible education, training and workforce development programs. We serve as a strategic partner to the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), and collaborate with other unions, nonprofit organizations, government agencies, and employers to help workers access good jobs and spark positive social change. Throughout our work, we promote a culture of empowerment that honors experience, culture, diversity, and inclusion.
POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking an MA-based Program Manager with a broad set of relational, program development, and project management skills to manage key components of our work to support family child care (FCC) educators with professional development, peer mentorship, and peer networks. This position will interface both with family child care educators, union staff, as well as with external project partners, stakeholders, and funders.
Through a contract with the MA Dept. of Early Education and Care, we will work to implement a supportive program for those entering the profession of family child care, or home-based child care, particularly in the southeastern region of Massachusetts. We will recruit and support the licensing process of prospective educators, as well as provide training and services to support their successful professionalization and ability to remain in the field of family child care. The programming goals include:
- Supporting interested individuals through a readiness and licensing process.
- Delivering training to new FCC educators that support their skill development in early education and business administration.
- Delivering training to newly licensed or early career FCC educators that support their continued professional development.
- Training and employing experienced FCC educators as peer mentors that will be paired with prospective and new FCC educators.

KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Licensing Support
- Manage all aspects of program enrollment including conducting informational sessions to recruit program participants, collecting and evaluating applications, managing details of enrollment.
Training and Professional Development
- Collaborate with ESF staff and contracted trainers to schedule and deliver training.
- Provide exceptional customer service to participants and stakeholders through in-person, phone, and virtual interactions.
- Ensure collection of relevant data related to outreach outcomes, training participation, and participant experience in trainings.
- Manage trainer relationships.
Peer Mentorship
- Collaborate with ESF staff and stakeholders to deliver all aspects of peer mentorship training, including scheduling, recruitment, distribution of materials, and providing logistical support to trainers.
- Manage pairing of mentors with mentees and coordinate a monthly professional learning community of mentors.
- Collect quantitative and qualitative data to support program evaluation and continuous quality improvement of programming.
- Provide exceptional customer service and communication to mentors, mentees, and partners.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

- Is able to flex hours to support staff across multiple time zones as needed (generally with notice).
- Ability to travel occasionally to Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and California.
- Experience working with diverse communities, including low-income women of color
- Experience in serving ESL populations and workers in isolated professions and those who have traditionally been excluded from pathways to advancement
- Has exceptional judgment, interpersonal skills, and a desire to develop and grow a talented team
EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS
- Bilingual Spanish/English or Portuguese/English required.
- Five to seven years of increasing responsibility in a non-profit management role
- Proven ability to manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders, innovate new methods/practices, brainstorm solutions to improve outcomes, and appropriately scale projects up or down.
- Experience supervising staff and motivating team members by setting clear expectations and enforcing accountability
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION
- Experience working within workforce development, early childhood education, labor, or related sectors

At ESF, we are committed to fairness, consistency, and transparency in our compensation practices. The salary for this role is predetermined based on standardized geographical cost of labor data in Massachusetts and the candidate's primary place of residence. The selected candidate will receive one of the following salaries: $67,693, $75,816, or $83,262, depending on their location.
