Successfully integrating the use of new technologies and strategic data is key to our organization’s success. The principal role of this position is to develop and administrator tools that allow for the efficient processing of membership data. This position coordinates and provides hands-on training and user support for staff to be successful. This position works with staff across the organization and/or partner organizations to plan and implement the use of data tools and platforms to achieve programmatic goals, exercising independent judgment and discretion in planning, project management, and working under only general direction.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
Membership Data Processing:
- Work with the Membership and Organizing Departments to develop procedures and processes that support the collection of Membership Data.
- Develop and consistently update quality control process and documentation of procedures working with SEIU 503 and partner organizations staff to be sure those procedures are consistently followed.
- Develop and maintain reports to assist the organization in tracking key metrics and goals around membership.
Data Administration:
- Serve as systems administrator by developing, coordinating and maintaining systems, documentation, data quality assurance and control measures, security safeguards and other functions as needed. Exercise independent judgment and discretion to align with and deliver on overarching objectives within timelines.
- Perform bulk uploads, audits, other data matches and manipulation.
- Work collaboratively with other staff and/or partners regarding any integration of information between platforms, such as our CRM, SQL Databases, and other related systems.
Data Collection:
- Reporting, Auditing and Analytics. Help our organization to make better data driven decisions.
- Both independently and in close collaboration with others, identify and fulfill reporting needs.
- Refine data collection and data entry methods.
- Pull and analyze data to provide accurate reports and show statistical trends overtime. Provide auditing and quality control oversight.
Project Management:
- Utilize project management approaches and act as a driver to independently ensure multiple projects and on-going requests are completed to expectations and timelines.
- Identify and troubleshoot problems.
- Provide solutions and recommend changes. Monitor and manage timelines.
User Support and Training:
- Be a dynamic trainer to other staff and members.
- Develop and present trainings, get in the field with staff to experience systems in real time, build out train-the-trainer curriculum and refine training materials over time as systems and technology evolve.
- Provide other technical support as needed. May be assigned to act as team lead on certain projects.
Miscellaneous:
- Participate in union-wide membership drives, political campaigns and other field activities as assigned which may include worksite visits, phone banking, house visits, door-to-door canvassing and literature drops.
- Willingness to talk to workers, engage in organizing and member sign-up activities with organizers to evaluate field systems and data to be more effective in our work. Periodically attend training and staff meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Accreditation at a four-year institution and/or transferrable minimum 2 years' work experience in data processing and computer sciences.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel required.
- Salesforce and programming (SQL and Python) experience preferred.
- Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong analytic, problem solving, and project planning skills.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and discern priorities.
- Willingness to demonstrate skills via testing during hiring process.
- Union/political organizing background, including production and use of data and lists that support organizing goals strongly preferred.
- Experience in union or other nonprofit environment particularly valuable.
- Self-motivated with ability to work well independently and to think on your feet.
- Willingness and ability to take direction and function well a team structure, as well as to coordinate (and at times lead) the work of others on complex projects and campaigns.
- Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully in diverse communities.
- Willingness and ability to work long and varied hours, including weekends, nights and holidays.
- Willingness to learn new skills and keep current on the news and issues that affect our organization and our members.

Working Environment:
Group 2 - Requires occasional lifting and exertion for short periods
Office and field work involving travel to all areas of the State and in a variety of environmental conditions. Work hours consistently in excess of 40-hours per week, including evenings and weekends.
