About SEIU-USWW: The Service Employees International Union (SEIU) is our country’s fastest growing labor union with more than 2 million members. Position Summary & Responsibilities: Working under the direction of the Research Director, this individual will be part of a statewide team of researchers who work directly with campaign teams, including field organizers, communicators, political staff, union and non-union workers, public agencies, and content experts. Common research areas include: public and private companies, service industries, client sectors, investigatory surveys and relevant legislative and regulatory review.

Examples of Duties:

• Conduct online, local and field research on companies, industries and/or real estate development projects.
• Develop company analyses and adapt them for various audiences (ex: union leadership & staff, workers, stockholders, political & regulatory bodies, the public)
• Identify and analyze new development projects in our industries and represent the union during the planning & political approval process.
• Develop and carry out campaign strategies and tactics.
• Support union program to move campaigns forward through organizing, field actions and politics, as needed.

Minimum Qualifications & Skills:  Graduation from an accredited college or university in relevant field with at least two (2) years of experience in research, with demonstrated ability in quantitative or qualitative research.  

• Proven commitment to social and economic justice and improving the lives of working people.
• Experience working on campaigns with a labor union, public policy, or non-profit organization.
• Knowledge of union organizing practice and principles.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in fast-paced and diverse team environment.
• Ability to effectively plan and implement work and manage time, as part of a team and individually.
• Demonstrated ability to clearly convey information and ideas both verbally and in writing across audiences.
• Computer proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Gmail, social media platforms, database & teleconferencing.

Additional Requirements:

• Ability to travel in California, ability to work extended and irregular hours, and work off-site, if needed
• Valid drivers’ license, use of a car for work, and specified automobile insurance coverage are mandatory.
• Work is generally performed in an office setting with prolonged periods of sitting and work on computer.
• All employees are required to be fully vaccinated and report their vaccination status as a condition of employment.
• All employees must abide by USWW Safety Guidelines, including the required use of face covering while working

Salary & Benefits:

• Salary is competitive and negotiable based on experience. (Based on Staff Union Contract)
