POSITION SUMMARY & RESPONSIBILITES : Working under the direction of the Bay Area Security Division Coordinator & Northern California Staff Director, this individual will be part of the Bay Area Security Division which represents security officers throughout the Bay Area, including contract enforcement and member engagement to make gains in the workplace and to address larger social / political issues in their communities.
Examples of Duties :
- Organize workers, identify workplace issues and execute worksite actions.
- Participate in contract negotiations and coordinated campaigns.
- Planning, mobilization and turnout for worksite actions, union events, marches, etc.
- Conduct one-on-ones, site visits and member-led committee meetings.
- Identify, recruit, train and develop member leaders, stewards and member-led committees.
- Maintain database with accurate and detailed information on worksites, individual workers and assignments.
- Effectively communicate with members and employers to enforce contract & resolve worksite disputes and issues.
- Prepare and manage workplans, calendars, files and records.
- Effectively communicate and engage members in union political program and activity.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS : Graduation from an accredited college or university in relevant field or equivalent experience in labor & community organizing that would provide for the following knowledge of, skills & abilities.
