Position Description

Job Title: Elementary Teacher Long Term Substitute – Sejong Academy Charter School, Maplewood

Job Location: Sejong Academy Charter School, 2410 Stillwater Road E, Maplewood, MN 55119

The successful candidate will provide highly-effective and high-quality instruction as an elementary classroom teacher for 4th grade students.

Essential Functions: Essential functions may include any of the following representative duties, knowledge, and skills. Employees are required to be in attendance and prepared to begin work at the school on the specified days and hours. Teacher hours are 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM Factors such as regular attendance at the job are not routinely listed in job descriptions, but are an essential function. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Develop and maintain long-range and daily instructional plans based on Sejong Academy’s curricula that fosters thinking, reasoning, and problem-solving. Work closely with the classroom teacher to continue the progress toward curriculum and school wide goals.
• Provide effective, developmentally-appropriate and differentiated instruction for diverse learners
• Promote students' comprehension of and interaction in a respectful environment
• Regularly assess student learning of subject content and language using multiple forms of assessment.
• Promote cooperation, assertion, responsibility, empathy and self-control among students, as well as conflict resolution strategies. Establish developmentally-appropriate behavioral expectations for students.
• Collaborate with peers to develop and implement best practices based on the students’ needs and abilities
• Collaborate and communicate regularly with families in making educational decisions. Promote family involvement to support student learning.
• Attend Staff meetings and serve on staff committees as required
• Meet Sejong Academy’s standards for performance and attendance.
• Prepare students for all major assessments including the spring MCA assessments
• Attend the annual Chuseok and Lunar New Year Celebrations.

Qualifications:

• Korean Speaker desired but not required
• Licensed in Elementary Education or closely related field
