Job Description :
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE :
Financial Reporting :
Prepare and review consolidated financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP; IRFS a plus.
Assist in the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting to senior management and external stakeholders.
Compliance and Internal Controls :
Ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures, as well as external regulatory requirements.
Maintain and enhance internal control systems to safeguard company assets and ensure financial data integrity.
Support internal and external audit processes, addressing audit findings and implementing recommendations.
Technical Accounting :
Research and interpret new accounting standards and regulations.
Provide technical accounting guidance and support to finance and operational teams globally.
Prepare technical accounting memos and documentation.
Process Improvement :
Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies in financial reporting and accounting operations.
Lead or participate in cross-functional projects to implement best practices and enhance financial systems.
Budgeting and Forecasting :
Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
Analyze budget variances and provide insights and recommendations to management.
Collaboration and Communication :
Work closely with global finance teams to ensure alignment and consistency in financial reporting and practices.
Communicate complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
Mentor and support junior accounting staff.
Participate in the development of a safe and healthy workplace. Comply with instructions given for their own safety and health and that of others, in adhering to safe work procedures. Co-operate with management in its fulfilment of its legislative obligations.
Other special projects and duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS :
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
CPA, CA, or equivalent professional certification preferred.
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in accounting, with at least 3 years in a senior or supervisory role.
Strong knowledge of U.S.GAAP (IFRS a plus) and technical accounting principles.
Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems (e.g., Microsoft Great Plains, Visual Lease, Sage Fixed Assets, Microsoft PowerBI, Planful).
Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial modeling.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a global team environment.
Experience in the freight forwarding and logistics industry is a plus.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE :
Minimum :
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.
3-5 years of experience in corporate payroll in a similar environment.
Preferred :
Minimum 1-2 years in public accounting
Minimum 2-3 years industry experience.
SPECIALIST CERTIFICATIONS :
CPA (Certified Public Accountant) / CA (Chartered Accountant)
