Work Location
This position is only eligible for in office/branch work arrangements at the Gateway branch in Springfield, Oregon.
Compensation
- Base Salary: The full salary range for the Insurance Sales Agent Trainee is $19.00 to $23.00 per hour, depending on experience.
- Commissions: This position is eligible for monthly commissions upon completion of licensing. After licensing is completed, commissions will range from $0-$2000 per month depending on production, with typical commissions of $750-$950 per month.

Position Overview
The Insurance Sales Agent is responsible for generating insurance sales for SELCO Insurance Services and our Credit Union Partners primarily through outbound contact to prospects submitted via team referrals and online inquiries channels.
Scope of the Training Program and Long-Term Objective
The Trainee Program is intended to provide a practical transition into an Insurance Agent position by allowing for training, skill development, and an interim compensation program. The Program includes reasonable and measurable benchmarks and progress will be evaluated throughout the program. The anticipated transition period is six (6) months. If at nine (9) months, the Training Program is not successfully completed, the Trainee will exit the Program.

Position-specific Essential Functions
- Update client and insurance information with insurance companies and in SELCO Group’s insurance systems in a timely and accurate manner.
- Generate insurance sales by contacting prospects on behalf of SELCO Insurance Services and/or Credit Union Partners, submitted primarily through referrals and online channels.
- Finalize insurance sales by ensuring appropriate documentation is accurately completed in a timely manner.
- Maintain and demonstrate insurance carrier system knowledge and understanding of carrier-specific underwriting requirements.
- Deepen client relationships by determining client needs and promoting and cross-selling SELCO companies’ products and services.

Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent; and
- At least six (6) months of sales experience; and
- Valid Property & Casualty License from the State of Oregon is required (this requirement may be waived for the first 90 days of employment); and
- Valid Life & Health License preferred but not required; and
- Must be bondable.
Physical Demands
While performing the job duties, approximately 90% of the time is spent stationary, with the remaining time spent moving around work areas. Frequent communication occurs in person, over the phone, and in writing. This position requires the ability to view a computer screen and interpret printed materials and other documents. This position requires the ability to lift and transport up to 5 pounds, and there is an occasional need to stoop, kneel, or reach to access documents, equipment, and supplies.

Work areas are inside in a climate-controlled environment with background noise.
