The Assistant Director of Internal Operations, supports the Director of Internal Operations, and is responsible for the functionality and success of the Main Warehouse, Fabric, Yard and Transportation Departments including the physical space, quality control, team members, cost control and all related activities. The Assistant Directors success will be evaluated based on the quality of the product delivered to our clients, the accuracy of the load-outs, the organization and flow of the departments and the development of the staff. The overall expectation is that the department delivers the right equipment in the right repair to the right site at the right time.
In this role, the Assistant Director is expected to demonstrate strong and consistent leadership, in accordance with the goals and objectives of the Division as a whole. As one of the key leaders in the division, the Assistant Director is expected to communicate clearly and effectively around the existing state of the department as well as proactively around the future needs and challenges facing the department, especially regarding the employees on the team and the execution of your departmental budgets.
In addition, the Assistant Director is responsible for the management of each team member. This includes proactively working on the team members career development planning, training, evaluations, disciplinary actions and more in conjunction with other Division leaders and Human Resources.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- General:
- In concert with the Director, manages Main Warehouse, Fabric, Yard and Transportation departments operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures
- Meets with all department managers and supervisors daily, assesses the state of the department, and takes swift corrective action concerning any needs
- Provides support and mentors staff by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; monitors and appraises job results
- Recognizes and develops top performing staff for future growth and expansion of the department and company
- Develops and maintains appropriate staffing levels to meet department goals while maximizing effectiveness of all direct reports through leadership and communication
- Recognizes signs of operational and/or budgetary problems and takes action steps required to correct them quickly
- Manage the servicing and maintenance of all departmental equipment and facilities
- Assist in creating, managing and approving budget for departmental expenses
- Reviews time sheets with Supervisors and addresses any discrepancies or deviations from the plan
- Interfaces with account executives and sales leadership to create a cohesive line of communication between operations and sales
- Works to maintains the physical condition of each department and corresponding equipment by planning and implementing new design layouts; inspecting equipment; issuing work orders for repair and requisitions for replacement
- Supports the development and establishment of an appropriate On-Call rotation, participating in the rotation as needed to ensure coverage does not lapse.
- Developing Processes and Procedures: These should be used to help increase productivity and efficiency while creating a standard for company operations
- Safety develops operating procedures that will allow departments to operate safely and efficiently
- Operational develops processes to improve the operational efficiency of the company while continuing to maintain and improve quality and customer service levels
- Data develops processes to gather and utilize available information to make data based decisions for the division and the company
- Culture develops processes that maintain and improve the culture/atmosphere for all associates
- Strategy and Analytics:
- Review data and creates reports/spreadsheets to track and measure performance of each Department
- Review daily/weekly/monthly reports tracking labor cost and build labor plans to meet budget goals
- Analysis of productivity issues and make changes to improve efficiency
- Oversee quality control and work with the teams to put procedures in place that prevent poor quality results for our internal and external customers
- Work with the field and sales to better understand areas in need of improvement and gain perspective on these issues
- Participate, as required, in decision making regarding inventory additions and product purchases in the division
- Purchases & Budget:
- Work with team to recommend inventory quantity increases as well as poor equipment replacement
- Assist in determining the needs of the department/company to maintain and improve internal operations

Salary : $79,130 - $126,485
