What are the responsibilities and job description for the Local CDL Driver position at Select Genetics?
This position will be double-lined, meaning the Local Division Breeder Manager will supervise and manage the individual. However, in the absence of the Breeder Manager, the individual will also report to the SEL Global Transportation Manager in MN.
Select Genetics presents a solid platform to serve customers nationally and internationally by providing quality products, services, and innovation. Select Genetics is the leading supplier of poults and eggs to growers and companies worldwide and operates in nine US States.
Class C CDL Driver responsibilities include but are not limited to transporting eggs.
While employed, this process will always uphold the expectation of consistent cleanliness, animal welfare standards, and bio-security policies.
The Driver carries out all directives in accordance with the Select Genetics, LLC policies and applicable laws.

The Driver must be physically able to lift at least 50 lbs. and pull or push up to 150 lbs. when loading or unloading the trailer.
Requirements/Expectations are, but are not limited to:
1. Follow the directions of the Division Breeder Manager.
2. Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and all applicable federal and state regulations.
3. Follow/adhere to Select Genetics LLC's attendance policy.
4. Active listener and exemplify good and friendly customer service demeanor.
5. Safely and precisely pick up, unload, load, and unload egg pallets onto and off trailers due to transport.
6. Ensure contents are adequately secured in the truck to prevent damage/injury.
7. Obtain signatures to confirm and complete pickups and deliveries.
8. Stay on a predetermined route and ensure timely transport and delivery.
9. Confirm that the contents of each shipment load match the manifest document.
10. Always ensure your vehicle is kept clean.
11. Notify managers of any major maintenance or delivery issues encountered.
13. Follow the delivery schedule and rest at appropriate times.
14. Maintain detailed driving and delivery logs and use of the eLog device.
15. Obey all applicable traffic laws and drive in according to the weather/road conditions.
16. Comply with DOT regulations and SEL policy regarding the company's vehicles.
17. Make safety a priority at all times.
18. Responsible for keeping the Egg Depot neat and clean and adequate inventory of farm supplies (SSTs, Export Supplies, Boxes, Purple crates, dividers, rolls of tape, binding straps, etc.).
19. Other duties as assigned by the Division Breeder Manager.
Requirements
1. A high school diploma or GED equivalent is preferred.
2. Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) required with proper endorsements.
3. 2 years of proven experience in commercial truck driving.
4. Clean driving record with no moving violations.
5. Must pass an MVR check and a pre-employment drug test.
6. Skilled at driving, backing, and parking large,
7. Ability to operate a manual transmission (preferred).
8. Alert, focused, and detail-oriented.
9. Possess great physical stamina and focus during long driving shifts.
10. Open to some long-haul transport runs and team runs as needed.
11. Proficient in using GPS and other routing systems.
12. Ability to operate or willingness to learn electronic logs.
13. Ability or willingness to learn to operate electronic equipment.
14. Map reading and route planning experience.
15. Disciplined, dependable, and resourceful.
16. High level of composure and good stress management.
18. Follow all company regulations about biosecurity, animal welfare, and safety.
Additional required skills and abilities include attention to detail, communication skills including verbal and listening, the ability to read and interpret company policies and procedures, the ability to communicate and interact productively with all employees, the ability to work under pressure, and the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
Min. Starting Pay: $24.77/Hr. ( based on level of experience and skill sets.)/Paid weekly.
Schedule: Monday - Friday (occasionally some weekends).
