Responsibilities
- Directs functions and manages health information management staff.
- Implements and ensures compliance with HIM policies and procedures.
- Manages a large team and performs employee evaluations.
- Develops and implements training and educational programs for HIM staff.
- Works with other leaders to solve problems and ensure productivity and accuracy standards.
- Trains and orients HIM staff.
- Generates and analyzes various management reports.
- Provides guidance to hospital leaders and medical staff on compliant documentation practices.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
We are seeking results-driven team players. Qualified candidates must be detail oriented, organized and results-oriented with a passion for problem solving and training.
Required:
- Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Technology or associated health care field required.
- Three (3) to five (5) years of management experience in a Health Information or other clinical role with knowledge of medical terminology, and the care of treatment of LTACH and/or Rehab patients.
- Experience with Epic or other electronic health record and other database programs.
- Excellent organizational skills, detail orientation, demonstration of the ability to set priorities, with proven problem solving skills. Shows a sense of urgency and confidentiality.
- Ability to work and communicate verbally and in writing, effectively, professionally, and respectfully with all members of the hospital, clinical staff, and other internal and external colleagues and customers.
- Ability to adapt to regulatory deadlines with changing workload and workflow without an interference to quality of work.
- Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to meet deadlines.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft products including PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, as well as Zoom.
Preferred:
- Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) preferred.
