Senior Graphic Designer

Overview

Select Medical is seeking a Senior Graphic Designer to support our Communications and Branding department located in Mechanicsburg, PA. This position is responsible for conceptualization and implementation of high-quality design solutions that meet communication and marketing strategies for our internal clients. This position will use specialized design software applications to prepare concepts for presentation, create high-quality layout solutions and produce design files for execution. This position is also responsible for, but not limited to, print or digital collateral for marketing, advertising, internal communications and other wide-range marketing. Creativity, time management, critical thinking, problem solving and decision-making are important to this position. The senior graphic designer should be capable of executing projects with minimal direction and should be able to manage their time as well as the time of more junior-level designers. This position takes the instruction of the Creative Director and executes that direction accordingly to come up with the best creative conceptual and tactical solutions.

The Senior Graphic Designer is responsible for executing his/her own workflow and projects to meet production deadlines and requirements. Work is characterized by considerable independence in the day-to-day operations. Work requires interfacing with senior management, Internal clients across the company, Communications & Branding team, partnering agencies, and vendors.

The Senior Graphic Designer must be proficient in Adobe Creative Suite and have a broad knowledge of industry standards. The individual must also have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel). Web design experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Conceptualize, design and develop appropriate layouts and graphics within brand standards to meet the needs of the Select Medical and its affiliate brands.
• Ensure consistent use of Select Medical brand standards.
• Assume both design and production responsibility for projects as assigned.
• Defines own work schedule.
• Demonstrate attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and dynamic environment.
• Work with the Communications & Branding team to develop concepts and ensure complete understanding of the design and production requirements for each assignment.
• Work with freelancers on design projects to produce desired results of our internal clients and stay within brand standards.
• Participates in departmental planning/brainstorming meetings.
• Ability to take art direction from creative director, communications managers/directors and internal clients/stakeholders.
• Mentor junior team members on design fundamentals and software
• Raise and enforce standards for quality, professionalism and creativity within and outside of the team
• Prioritize graphic projects when conflicting timelines arise
• Coordinate production activities to meet deadlines and coordinate final delivery of materials for printing and publication.
• Maintain current knowledge of production applications and processes.
• Ability to provide layout specifications for third-party vendor.
• Maintain production of design templates for all brands.
• Knowledge of the field’s concepts, practices and procedures.
• Knowledge of production processes and ability to pre-flight files for production.
• Defines own goals and objectives
• Keep Creative Director advised of all activity.
• Foster a positive, collaborative and productive work environment

Qualifications

Required:

• Five to eight years of work experience in graphic design.
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite/Creative Cloud (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator)
• Strong understanding of typography and color usage.
• Strong familiarity with Mac OSX and PC.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize workload.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Adaptable and quick learner
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and outside vendors.
