What are the responsibilities and job description for the Confident and Flexible Nanny position at Select Sitters?
If you enjoy all of the curiosity that comes along with the toddler stages but can also switch gears seamlessly to work with school-age children, this position will be right up your alley! A family in Chapel Hill is seeking an engaging, flexible, and warm nanny, with the flexibility to start between April 1st and May 1st! They hope for a nanny who is laid back, yet routine-oriented, and adapts well to potential schedule changes along with their children’s differing personalities. Both parents are physicians so a nanny who is consistent, reliable, and communicative is the best fit!
At the position start, the nanny will be primarily caring for their youngest child, who will be almost 2 years old, while their two oldest children (ages 7 & 9) will be in school full-time and summer camps. The nanny will be responsible for school and summer camp pickups/drop-offs for the 7 & and 9-year-olds, as well as occasionally transporting them to activities. All three boys are sweet, active, and love being outside. When fall comes along and school is back in session, their youngest child will start attending part-time nursery school a few days a week, so the nanny will provide school transportation for all three children. This will be a big transition for their youngest child and they would love for their nanny to be understanding and flexible as he adjusts to a new routine. As the children grow and develop additional interests in sports, the responsibilities may shift slightly. Assistance with light household duties such as preparing meals/lunches for the boys, helping with the children’s laundry, tidying up, and unloading/loading the dishwasher are super helpful. Ultimately, helping their household run smoothly while they are away is a huge help to these busy parents. Once all three children are in school, they would appreciate help with a few additional tasks such as running errands, grocery pickup, walking the dog, and other organizational projects that will help the family thrive. They plan to continue consistent hours long-term as they need coverage during these hours even if school is closed or if the children have minor illnesses.
Flexibility is key for this family as a dual-physician household. While they do their best to maintain standard work hours as much as possible, sometimes their timeframes overlap. Their nanny should be available to work Monday-Friday between the hours of 6:30 am - 6:30 pm, but will typically arrive between 7-8 am and end by 5 pm. They also would ask for assistance one weekend day each month and would exchange a weekday off for this day that week. The schedule is provided well in advance and the family always strives to accommodate the nanny’s preferred weekend. The family will guarantee 35 weekly hours and while some weeks the nanny will work a few more, others they will work less (some weeks the nanny works 4 days and others 5 days). The family does have a dog, so dog lovers are encouraged to apply! They have built such strong bonds with their past nannies and hope to find a nanny who is truly interested in becoming a part of their family for the next several years!
