The Baker is responsible for preparing and producing high-quality baked goods in compliance with company recipes, production schedules, and food safety standards. This role requires attention to detail, efficiency, and adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) to ensure consistent quality and production output.

Duties / Responsibilities :

  • Prepare and produce baked goods according to standardized recipes and production plans.
  • Operate and monitor baking equipment, including ovens, mixers, proofers, and slicers.
  • Ensure doughs and batters are mixed, proofed, and baked to meet quality and consistency standards.
  • Monitor baking processes and adjust as necessary to achieve desired results.
  • Perform routine quality checks to ensure products meet company standards for taste, texture, and appearance.
  • Identify and address any deviations from quality standards promptly.
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations, including BRCGS, GMP, and OSHA standards.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation and follow proper sanitation protocols.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, or quality concerns to the supervisor immediately.
  • Measure and mix ingredients according to recipe specifications.
  • Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and supplies, reporting shortages to management.
  • Assist in receiving and storing raw materials, ensuring proper rotation and storage conditions.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure smooth production operations.
  • Assist in training new team members in baking processes and equipment use.
  • Support other production team members as needed to meet production goals.

Skills and Abilities :

  • Knowledge of baking processes, equipment, and techniques.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain consistent quality.
  • Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately.
  • Physical stamina to stand for long periods, lift heavy ingredients (up to 50 lbs.), and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physical Demands :

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk long distances, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear; climb stairs and / or ladders. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Able to stoop, bend, stretch and walk unassisted for up to 10 hours at a time.
  • GMP'S AND HACCP :

  • Follow GMP's at all times. (Wear hairnets, clean uniform, etc.)
  • Working Conditions :

  • This position is based in a manufacturing plant environment, where the employee may be exposed to noise, temperature fluctuations, and moving machinery.
  • Occasional overtime may be required to support production activities.
  • Ability to lift to 50 lbs. and perform manual labor in a standing position for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment with varying temperatures and humidity levels.
  • Hearing protection will be required for all plant activities.
  • Qualifications : Educations :

  • High school diploma or GED required; vocational training in baking or culinary arts is a plus.
  • Experience :

  • Previous experience in a bakery or food production environment.
  • Experience in a leadership or supervisory role, preferably in a bakery or food manufacturing setting.
  • Knowledge of bakery production equipment and the ability to troubleshoot basic issues.
  • Experience with quality control and ensuring that products meet industry standards.
  • Familiarity with health and safety standards specific to food production.
