Additionally, the automation technician will work with the operations team to advise and train on proper use of said systems. The Automation Technician will have to work at heights of 15’ or greater to install equipment on tanks and perform necessary maintenance.

The essential job functions include, but are not limited to
- Wiring termination of various devices in automation controllers.
- Installation of level, pressure, flow and communication devices.
- Field assembly/repair of various automation equipment.
- Provides on-site training to supervisors and field personnel for new processes and technologies.
- Provides on-site or over-the-phone troubleshooting support to supervisors and field personnel on new processes and technologies.
- Provides feedback on work performance and knowledge level of field personnel to field supervisors and management.
- Advises team on required knowledge and observed knowledge gaps.
- Reviews work of field personnel and vendors ensuring high quality and adherence to Standard Operating Procedures.
- Maintains working understanding of manufacturer guidelines for installation and maintenance of sensitive equipment.
- Reviews field reporting submissions for accuracy and completion.
- Compiles data and generates reports.
- Provides feedback to management on process improvement.
- Driving trucks and other vehicles to transport equipment, personnel and perform job task.
- Attending and successfully completing training as directed for DOT, OSHA and safety.
- Basic data entry into computer systems.
- Attends meetings and training sessions.
- Daily travel to various locations, both in and out of state.
- Field collection of data and/or samples.
- Quality control checks.
- Infrequent pipeline/plumbing installations.

Requirements

- 1 year of oil and gas/ industrial experience (or related experience).
- Possesses honesty, integrity, and respect for the inviolability of reporting to clients and supervisors.
- Appreciates and cultivates a continuous commitment to safety for self and others.
- Is self-directed and able to work independently on a day-to-day basis while supporting initiatives, targets, and directions from Operation Manager and Foreman(s).
- General working knowledge of electronics and electrical equipment preferred.
- General working knowledge of common field equipment e.g. rough-terrain forklift, diesel generators, diesel and/or gas air compressors.
- Able to read and write at a professional level in English.
- High interpersonal communication skills.
- Can proficiently use Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Aptitude for explaining complex concepts in an understandable and approachable manner for non-technical audiences.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be eligible to drive a company vehicle in accordance to Select’s policies.

Physical Demands and Exposures
- Work is regularly performed in outside weather conditions, including rain and extreme cold and heat, near moving mechanical parts; exposure to high wind, ice, snow, wet and/or humid conditions, vibration, and dust is expected.
- Exposure to noise levels requiring the use of hearing protection.
- Prolonged sitting, standing, walking.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to individually lift: Maximum 50 lbs.
